Practice, practice, practice!

Post by PaigeB »

I got this from a Daily reflections reading, which I can't find right now. It a quote from DR. BOB AND THE GOOD OLDTIMERS, pg 307-308
"... we practice it... we practice it. . . . we should practice . . . service... faith... faith... faith... That was not easy for me, and I assume that it is difficult for everyone else. . . ."

The Reflection added, “Fear is often the force that prevents me from...”

This rings with me as we enter the year 2023. I was asked about a New Year's resolution and languishing my Step work came to mind. The person I was talking to was an alcoholic and had some knowledge of the AA Steps. They nodded their head in deep thought. It scares me that I may have just made myself accountable to someone!

Anyone else stuck by fear? Or, unstuck after they took Action and found some Peace again?

You knew what you doing when you did it, even if you didn't know it at the time! Now we know too!! Accountability is multiplying exponentially... best get a move on. :~)

Fear is a door. You can try to go around it. You can try to go under it. You can pretend you don't see it. Until you walk through it, you remain stuck in the same room that you presently in.

how does one practice step 3? i thought it was just a decision! secret old timer stuff i guess :p

made a decision. to do what? to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him....
and continue with the rest of the steps.
a decision i believe is made prior to that: "If you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to any length to get it-then you are ready to take certain steps."

i decided i wanted what they had very early on. i made that decision without really know what "they" had but it had to be better than what i had when i walked in.

i found everything i do i am just practicing. ive been walkin for about 52 years but still stumble occasionally because im just practicing walkin.

"i thought it was just a decision!" That makes total sense to me now that you say it!

made a decision- to turn it all over and continue with the rest of the steps, which is addressed a little earlier in the BB:
"If you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to any length to get it-then you are ready to take certain steps."
