Re: 13th June Daily Reflection

So our troubles, we think, are basically of our own making. They arise out of ourselves, and the alcoholic is an extreme example of self-will run riot, though he usually doesn’t think so. Above everything, we alcoholics must be rid of this selfishness. We must, or it kills us! Good to be reminded ev...

Re: AA cliches

“Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a bre...

Re: AA cliches

So why do we continue to put these hurdles in front of newcomers, why do we make it harder? I don’t know but will continue to speak about them here and in meetings, in the hope that some newcomer might hear a different view, and some old-timers might think twice before they use some of these cliche...

Or "with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away." (this is a line from some poem I read as a tortured teen. It have always stayed with me, but I cannot quote the source.) It appears your line comes from this author Dinah Maria Mulock Craik. If you care. Wow! thanks for looking that up! ...

I like to think that in Bill's white light experience he would say something like that. Later in the BB is We Agnostics. "We" means WE - US - ALL of us. I think that as Bill came to know the experience of more people he found that we are all agnostic at some point... I mean we JUST DON'T K...

Re: Twenty Four Hours A Day June 11th

It's Science... CIPHER 1. a secret or disguised way of writing; a code. is blind faith in the strange proposition that this universe originated in a cipher and aimlessly rushes nowhere. I mean if we are to believe the Big Bang... it does rush aimlessly outward to what? Anyway, this reading is offens...

Re: AA cliches

"The worst thing that can happen to a drunk who drinks, is nothing." Heard in the rooms, but not quite a cliche. I know that for many that first "trial drinking" went the way of, " Nothing happened, so maybe I over estimated this thing." ... NOT an AA cliche, but fitti...

I would think that it would be obvious that a thread has gone stale, but there is no guarantee at any point the OP is coming back and no indication that they had short of a response. If it was necessary to provide this notification here, are you going to do it for all "resurrected" thread...

Re: AA cliches

I slipped hard, after 13+ years of Sobriety in the Program. It seemed like I started slow, a few tests, that I seemed to pass with colors. But that didn't last long. "The worst thing that can happen to a drunk who drinks, is nothing." Heard in the rooms, but not quite a cliche. I know tha...
