Re: Dull pressure above liver

This is borderline ridiculous. If you thought you had cancer, Covid19, or a broken leg, would you go on a public chat board to get some opinions on what to do? Of coarse not. If you think you have liver problems, go see a doctor. sooner rather than later. My guess is you're worried the doctor is goi...

Re: Xanax

I would never feel good about advising a newcomer to disregard their sponsor. In the greater South Texas AA community, most of our AA "coins" have the phrase "To thine own self be true". You know when you're taking medicine prescribed by a doctor and when you're abusing drugs. Th...

Traditions Question

Last week I attended a meeting in Hamilton Ohio. They start the meeting in a traditional way, AA preamble, How It Works, Traditions, and 9th Step Promises. What caught my attention was they read a "preamble" to the Traditions, talking about how they came to be and mentioning the 1950 AA co...

Re: Detox and meeting question

Hi guys, what are the most effective ways to stop drinking? I'm tired of it and I want to get out of my depression and alcohol addiction. For some 85 years the program of Alcoholics Anonymous has been effective. As stated elsewhere, I just celebrated 30 years sober in AA. Go back 25 years and my di...

Brock wrote: Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:46 am You sound like a nice person, but I have never seen it written that we should like everybody.

This is true. Old timers told me that if you like everybody you know in AA, you're not going to enough meetings.

Re: Good morning!

Welcome Sissy. As I enter my forth decade of sobriety, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is "There is a solution", the bad news is "This is it". As you progress in your journey on the road of happy destiny, it's going to be suggested you have to give up certa...

Re: 30 Years

Well done Aggie! Looking back at the old days when we could smoke in the rooms and had no electronic means and I wonder how we made it...... Thanks for the share. Thank you for the kind words. They made me think of the old smoke room at Club 12 in San Antonio and the one non-smoking row at ...

Re: Living with an alcoholic. Fed up and tired of it.

Let me ditto what Brock suggested. There are several hard truths to Alcoholics Anonymous. One is there is not one word in the Big Book telling me how to get you, your mom or anybody else sober. If your mom wants to quit drinking for good and all, we KNOW we have an answer for her. Unfortunately, you...

Re: Denial???

I'm not here to put labels on anyone and I'm not working my way through college selling AA memberships. However, I do have some experience to share. If I don't drink and don't die for the next two weeks I'll celebrate 30 years sober in AA 2/26/21. I asked virtually all the same questions you have po...

Re: How to deal with Thanksgiving and all the alcohol

Think about this. If you had a sever allergy to peanuts, shellfish, strawberries, etc. or if your religious views prevented you from eating certain foods you wouldn't give it one moments thought to passing on them at dinner. However, with booze you feel you need to give everyone an explanation as to...

Re: Daily drinking

this would also be impossible as I don't want my daughter to hear me and I don't want my partner to know. The alcoholic mind never ceases to amaze me. You don't mind letting your daughter see you get falling down drunk and you have to hide your breath from you partner and other co-workers, but you ...

Sounds like you're where I was the morning of 2/26/91. I just meant to have a couple of beers with the guys and watch a basketball game. Instead my world went straight to hades. Made my first meeting that night and haven't had a drink since.

Re: Step 4 fear Inventory help please

Yeah, its psychological fears. Closest comes to mind is fear of losing the job, fear of dying, losing somebody....... All is not happening now, but, alcoholics being self-centered spend quite a bit of time imagining stuff. Where they could focus on what is on hand at this moment. Yeah as I understa...
