Re: Conscious Contact

Progress not perfection! I am not really scheduled on my times either as I am up at around 0200 in the morning and it wears me down more and more and yet I am so used to that time that I just deal with it. in the evening I do some reading and that is my spiritual catch up and it provides some clarit...

Re: When is the last time you heard:

My point was that mentally that urge can hit us all at our mental weakness and whether we wanted to drink or not it can happen to us all if the right opportunity slips in on us.

I k now I am not "cured" until that pine box is closed up and I won that race.

Re: When is the last time you heard:

Principles before personalities: A lot of great replies and we as a people I am responsible to thy own self be true and you know they aren't worth the drink! I've been at this for a long long time and it is the moment of weakness is when I/we can get the urge. I hope this is just a phase in our soci...

When is the last time you heard:

In sobriety we are suggested to follow the steps, big book, traditions, and literature as a means to finding a new life in which we change our old habits to some degree as it is progress and not perfection!! Even in AA we see people who are sober and yet still do things that aren't in keeping with m...

Progress over perfection and it is the rough times that we are reminded of our slacking off.

Congrats and look after yourself.

Re: "Locker room talk"

I was told a long time ago about hanging with the winners as they have what you want and they are human and yet mentors in life and the program. I would say we men do have egos and just because we are sober does this mean we are different? You can also hit other meetings in your area and it could be...

Re: Can’t be honest to my sponser

Paige, I would say my experience with steps 1-5 I had to find the willingness to take the suggestions of those in the rooms. I was good with 1-3 and I knew my root causes were in the 1-3 steps. The concept of 4&5 were great but not so much for me. I eventually had to step up my game because rest...

Re: Can’t be honest to my sponser

2 months sober is an accomplishment and if you look on the back of your chip from AA it says: To Thy Own Self Be True! This means you first and if you can learn this part in a manner that isn't being a selfish person then you can achieve life long sobriety. If you can't confess what is on your mind ...

Re: I want to go to rehab but I can't afford it.

My health is declining extremely at this point. I can't stop drinking, aa has never helped because I'm a hardcore atheist . I could go back to jail they offer free rehab. but I don't want to go down that road. If you want sobriety then you'll go to any length like you do when your drinking! You kno...

Re: 30 Years

Oh and what about the sides of the room for smokers and non-smokers...... I am glad I smoked in those early sobriety days because at least I wouldn't get pulled for smoking! I spent early life in Ft. Worth and my teenage time in Amarillo. Got sober in San Diego, lived up in the Bay Area before the h...

Re: Here is Practical Explanation about Next Life,

Our program asks that we keep searching, but surely to the majority of us that will be to the point where we have ‘found’ what we are searching for, (defined basically by the promises I look at your point as how I feel. I listen and I watch and in the rooms it seems that this searching is a way of ...

Well done Aggie! Looking back at the old days when we could smoke in the rooms and had no electronic means and I wonder how we made it......

Thanks for the share.

Re: Tell Me Your Experience and Wisdom on This...

Not sure how to reply to the last share except that... it sounds like that person wanted their opinion about my post to be heard. Thank you for your opinion, I am glad you are here, and I wish you the best on your journey. Actually a lot of people come and post things as to taunt real sober people ...
