Thanks, SH, but it's not the running that I'm surprised at being able to do, it's the fact that I've been able to set regular targets, daily targets and actually stick to them. I mean 26.2 miles is a ruddy long way to run and early on I felt it would be near impossible - just like stopping drinking felt in the early days - but all I've had to do is not focus on the end event (running 26.2 miles), just do the next training run that's planned. And not to overdo things so I don't injure myself, yet keep on increasing the distance slowly, and gradually come out of my comfort zone, week by week.
Running and recovery seem to have a lot in common.
But really, I've never been a 'finisher' and I've just about completed my marathon training. Maybe I'm speaking too soon?
I'll post again here when I've ran the thing; 20 Jan 13!
Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again, come, come.” Rumi (No sniggering from the sex addicts)
