Speech problems in recovery

Postby Dub24 » Sat Sep 03, 2016 6:57 am

I'm nearly 2 years in recovery & have noticed my speech is a bit funny! Example would I have all the words & thoughts in my head but when I come to speak I don't make sense. Maybe I'm just being self conscious or paranoid!
Does anyone else have this problem???

Yeah, I was the same way. Still am sometimes. After I share I sometimes feel like what I said made no sense and that I never made my point. So sometimes when I want to share something, I jot down short notes, especially the point I'm trying to make. It gets easier with time. I also feel more comfortable sharing in a small group. There's a little group I go to sometimes that usually has about 10 people so nearly everyone gets to read and then share on what they read. You might try sharing in smaller groups until you feel more comfortable.

When I keep my thoughts on my experience with whatever subject, my words come out just fine.
If I don't have experience with something, I do my best to shut up.
