Spiritual tools are for demons, not white knuckles. The doubts crowd in and the demons come out to play. I'm ok once daylight hits (usually), so the main obstacle is just getting thru those nites.

Cling to the thought that, in God's hands, the dark past is the greatest possession you have - the key to life and happiness for others. With it you can avert death and misery for them. page 124 BB

Great, thanks!
Re: "Un" lucky 13?
Did you have a psychic change as a result of taking the 12 steps? The BB tells us that we will have no thoughts of alcohol at all once we have had that psychic change. So I'm wondering why you are having these thoughts. Sounds like you may need to go through the steps again.

Working through the steps means in-depth conviction that booze is not going to fix anything and that it only leads to more trouble. Thats the sane thought process the 12 steps offers. If you still seeking that sense of ease and comfort drinking few drinks, you may want to re-visit the steps again.can only think of drinking, which is the one thing that has always gotten me thru.
Show him the mental twist which leads to the first drink of a spree. We suggest you do this as we have done it in the chapter on alcoholism.(Alcoholics Anonymous, Page 92)

I'm also going to support you in 're-visiting' the 12 steps. It will help, and can't do any harm!
