I think 'To thine own self be true' is about honesty, to myself in particular.

Are my intentions, motivations and actions in line with God's will? Only I can really work that one out. I can be kind to people for all sorts of reasons, some of them selfish, some of them not.

I can act all humble about certain things, but inside I know I'm not.

I guess before I can be honest with other people, I've got to start with the basics and be honest with myself first.
