My AA B'day was November 19. Home group celebrated Nov. 21, Open meeting night.

A young woman, whom I had introduced to AA and had recently celebrated 11 years sober, shared. I had never heard her story before. It was a riveting account, I found we shared many experience...

At one point, she paid tribute to me with a poem. I don't recall that ever happening before. She gave it to me at the end, written in her best handwriting. If I may, I would like to share it.

"His 44th Year"

I met a man when I was sick, ashamed and full of fear.
He sat there with a smile and said, "I'm just so glad you're here".

The knowledge that he shared with me, that understanding stare.
And all of a sudden I understood what it meant to have me there.

This man was quiet, yet his message so loud.
The service he's done would make anyone proud.

He gave away what was given for free,
But the cost is high when you pay with humility.

This man that I speak of that we hold so dear
Is celebrating his birthday tonight, his 44th year !

Thanks you Keith for helping me when I couldn't help myself.

Congratulations to all the November celebrants!

This has been another Thanksgiving of gratitude!
Sobriety date is 11-23-1977 the day before Thanksgiving in 1977 and 2011.
My first meeting was at noon in 77 and i attended a noon meeting this year

Its a broad highway folks keep on trudgen the happy road.

My wife of 33 years just seperated from me hopefully we will have a healing seperation. I was looking at the Intergroup Newssletter as I knew November is her sobriety date yet I did not see it posted, I checked Nov 23011 and it was. Does this imply she lapsed or do you think maybe a typo. I feel terrible for her and wonder should I mention it since she didn't mention it to me.

I would surely ask your sponsor, but my sponsor would say it is none of my business. Now MY sobriety date is my business... but it hard to draw the line sometimes. My daughter went out and came back in for a while and didn't tell a soul... until the next time she got drunk. And that is still her business.

Then again, maybe it is a typo.

Hi worknit.... I'm betting that if your wife relapsed, you would have known if you were together in November. There are times when groups don't get their Anniversary lists in to Intergroup in time for newsletters. My group has missed some, and also accidentally left someone off. I wouldn't read much into that. Sounds like your mind is spinning around during a difficult time. Are you an alcoholic? We do that stuff to ourselves all the time!

Good luck to you worknit!

Ed
