35 years...

Post by Barbara D. » Wed Dec 07, 2016 8:37 am

The signpost approaches. I can see it in the distance through sunshine, rain, fog, sleet, and snow. It's getting closer. It says 12/19/1981. If I make it again, I'll have 35 years of one day at a times! Still the student of a healthy spiritual condition. Still subject to daily ups and downs. Still aware that alcoholism can sneak up on me in different forms, like stinking thinking or other compulsive, obsessive behaviors, not just alcoholic beverages. I am so thankful to know that I am not in charge, that I can be in harmony with life on life's terms even though it doesn't suit me all the time.

And thank you for this website and for the discussion forums in particular! I have learned things here, though I squirmed against the tide. I have had personal revelations here. I am still growing! :D

Thank you Barbara for all your words about your sobriety.
Many times you have written and I have read exactly what I needed there.
Thanks for this avenue of step 12 work, it helps me so much and I know
you enjoy it! :)

Your years in AA show through in your honesty.

Happy AA milestone!

Thanks for the real share of life at 35 years sober. Nice that you did mention life on life's terms as we aren't cured not matter what public opinion might say.

11/1/89 and still growing.
Work hard, stay positive, and get up early. It's the best part of the day.

Love it. Ditto!

Congrats!!!! Barb.

There are Days I wish I could say 01/16/88, (DUI Fine to prove it) rather than May sometime 2014, And not sure the Lessons were worth the Pain, but I am always Grateful for Today's Gift of Sobriety and the Gifts of the Program.

Maybe someday more will be revelled.
