Welcome to e-AA John B. I have a slightly different view of the AA program, yes I face daily struggles and use the tools of AA in overcoming them, and it makes for a pretty great life, and I am grateful for that and many other things. But meetings are in my opinion almost optional, I enjoy a couple a week and it's a means of passing the message to others, but they play little part in my sobriety. I guess everyone is different in certain ways, and if this is what you need more power to you.

Attend meetings meetings meetings.

You may want to consider working the 12 steps with a sponsor along with going to meetings.

I was 23 when I finally accepted that drinking was not helping me and I had to surrender as I'd relapse expecting different results only to fail again! Being young, peer pressure and just fitting in have a lot of issues and it is not all bad being sober once you can get beyond struggling. Life is a struggle and it is part of the plan and we have no choice but to do our best.

Get a sponsor and talk and work toward self reflection via the steps of AA and I believe your life can get better as you shed stuff.

Hi John B, welcome to e-aa :) Your post is very interesting to me. You don't mention what you are struggling with? Are you having thoughts of drinking, not enjoying life, having difficulties dealing with pressure at work or home, personal relationships? If you wish to give some more detail or specifics we may be in a better position to assist?
