New to e-AA Group

Post by Patria » Tue Jul 26, 2016 8:38 am

My name is Pat; I'm an alcoholic; not new to AA but new to e-AA. I'm so glad it is here! I could have used this 30 years ago but we didn't have it then. I had a computer and I did email people who also had computers; but at that time few people did.

Hello. My name is Lace and I'm an alcoholic. Struggling with anxiety tonight. Prayer and meditation aren't seeming to help right now, trying to do one day at a time.

Hi Lace, glad that you are here.

Anxiety by it's very nature is a struggle. It can be caused by medical issues so a medical workup is never a bad idea.

In my case, anxiety is caused strictly by my own thoughts with no underlying medical issues. It is always my own doing. I have a quote posted on my wall by my bedroom door that helps me whenever I start to run amok with my thoughts.

"Leave your front door and your back door open. Allow your thoughts to come and go. Just don't serve them tea. (Shunryu Suzuki)".

Welcome Mike, Lace and Patria! I'm pretty new to the forums, as well. It's been a wonderful source for information and support in my recovery journey.

I hope to keep hearing more from you and see you around these rooms :)

Hi, Pat. I think I missed welcoming you when you posted on July 26. I hope all is well with you and I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome, Mike. You say you are new to e-aa. This is a great forum with lots of good sobriety here. Please stick around, do some reading and I hope to hear more from you.
