Looking Forward...

Postby KingChav » Fri May 24, 2013 4:44 am

Hello to you all,

This is my first time here (thanks due to ann2) and I am looking to change my life as well as improving the quality of life for my long-suffering family.

I started drinking at the age of 14. I am now 48. :(

So, here I am... I have now got the desire to quit alcohol...

Welcome here, KingChav. I came here 11 months ago and it has proven to be the best decision I could have made. I now am living a life of dignity and honesty as opposed to waking each day to the shame and guilt that my drinking caused. I did it "one day at a time" and you can too. Sending prayers your way. Keep coming back, it is true, "we get better together".

Thank you for the welcome, Ed and Hanna...

It is good to know I am not alone. When I was out and about, all I felt was loneliness. I did that to myself. Crazy, looking back. I also thought I could fix it myself. I couldn't. So, here I am! :D

hi Everyone
Im Sharon and I'm an Alcoholic.I joined the site yesterday and I'm finding comfort in reading your mails.
I had a slip 4 days ago after 6 months and 3 days sobriety .I have to say it was the best 6 months Iv had in years being sober.I just got complacent and let my defences down.Hopefully this setback will make me stronger because I hated how the drink made me feel. But I'm not going to sit around feeling sorry for myself.Im just going to work harder.
A slip is not the end of the world if you believe you can really fight it and that's what I'm doing by jumping into my aa meetings and hopefully meeting some good people here.
Best of look to everyone and it really is just one day and a time.

Hi Sharon!... and welcome here!! So glad you found us. This is a great place with lots of great people sharing recovery. You know, my last slip felt like the end of the world, and the worst day of my life. But it gave me the gift of desperation and the willingness to do what is necessary to recover. So in a sense, it was the best thing that happened, and it was the end of the world....... the end of the world of strange and lonely alcoholism and the beginning of a new world filled with gifts. So I think you have a great outlook on your own slip, and it is wonderful that you want to get right back in there and work on recovery! We stop living in the problem, and start living in the solution!!!

So, again, welcome here! Stick around and share recovery with us!
