New to AA and new to e-AA

Postby Chandra » Tue Aug 14, 2012 4:10 pm

I've been going to AA for about a month now. I have been very nervous in these meetings so I thought I'd try e-AA. I have lots of questions...

Welcome! Glad you found us! Please, ask away!

I'd like to offer this link www.e-aa.org/about_aa.php which includes some great AA pamphlets such as “Is AA for You?” Twelve questions only you can answer,“A Newcomer Asks,” for those approaching AA for the first time, “Frequently Asked Questions about A.A.”, questions and answers about AA and drinking, and “Information on Alcoholics Anonymous”.

Thanks for showing up and speaking up --

Ann

I too was very nervous in he beginning. But when I started they didn't have internet yet. I used to go to the meetings and was always very nervous that someone would call on me and I would have to talk. Then someone told me that all I had to do was say me name and that I was an alcoholic, and say that I just want to listen. So listen I did for many many meetings. I used to really enjoy the speaker meetings. I read the big book too. I would like to suggest going to the meetings. Try talking to people after the meetings. Some of the best A.A. happens after the meetings. Try to find a group you really like and keep going to it. You will eventually get to know people and won't feel so nervous anymore.

Hi I am Simon, Alcholic and Addict. I have been in AA for 4 years, runing around the edges.I finally got sober with AA's help and by Grace of God on the 15 June 2012. I have a sponsor and have just completed Step 1. I now attend daily meetings. I believe AA is helping me in ways that I could never have imagined.

I have just found these on line rooms! What a great resource, thnak you!

God Bless, Simon
