Happy to be here

Postby AllisonF » Mon Jul 23, 2012 11:47 pm

My name is Allison and I am an alcoholic, sober for the last 24 years. I'm excited to find positive, step minded discussions. Through 'coincidence" it has become abundantly clear that I need to get off my old timer high horse and get back to the basics. I dusted off (and read) my Big Book and called my first sponsor who lead me to these discussions. After looking around, a thank you to the newcomers that remind me from whence I came. Happy to be here!

Welcome Alison! Wow, I can so relate to your story. I also thank the newcomers and the people sharing about their experiences with the steps. I am currently assisting a lady who lives on a far-away Asian island. In explaining what the steps have done for me to her, I am not surprised that I was skeptical of anyone talking about it . . . before I did them! So the more people who share the amazing changes that the steps brings one, the better, I think. It's just hard to believe, especially coming from that horrible place that alcohol brought me to.

On the other hand, I am always so impressed by the hope and the willingness of newcomers, wanting something better yet having no experience in what that might be -- I love seeing that energy and strength and want to do anything to help.

Big hugs from Sweden,

Ann

Hi Allison, and welcome.

It can be easy to lose sight of the simple basics sometimes, can it not?
