Tattoos.

So.
I have come to realise that getting my first and second tattoo at the age of 16, while on a drunken holiday in Finland, wasn't actually the best idea I ever had.
When I got them I kind of thought: Well, these tattoos will remind me of the awesome trip, that I'll never forget... and now it is kind of like: Well, I don't remember any of the trip, but have two tattoos that I don't really understand...

Rise beyond years :D . Funny you should mention the ink as I have never had one tat ever and I always wanted one long before this current fad even existed and I just never could decide on a design and or theme. I have been through some awesome places and the artwork just crazy with the details.
But anyways you made a good sound point and hopefully these will keep you focused on ways not to forget a great time in the future.

The dreaded ex's name on my arm while in a drunken stupor.
Wasn't a matter of just getting it covered up either. It took 4 years to save the money up to get it covered.
I was hurtful about it too. A holy cross now covers her name and the day I got it done I sent her a picture of it with the caption "only God can keep certain evils at bay". If you knew the relationship, you'd think it was funny too.

This has nothing to do with tattoos, but rather than start a new thread, I am just putting in a quote I saw in a report by a sports writer, kind of applies to us.
I remember when I saw the photo of Michael Phelps smoking pot. He had become the most decorated athlete in the history of the Olympics, but overnight he lost millions in endorsements and outraged countless ‘fans’. Phelps reportedly told a close friend, “I don’t want to be alive anymore.”

Just a few years later, he was arrested & charged for driving under the influence of alcohol. He voluntarily checked into a 45-day rehab program, but I thought Michael Phelps was done as a... swimmer.

So far this week, Phelps has won 4 more Olympic Gold Medals. At 31, he has become the oldest swimmer to win an individual gold in Olympic history.

In life, you will fall. You will make mistakes. It’s unavoidable. But, when it happens, will you choose to get back up?

No matter where you find yourself today, you don’t have to stay down. Take a breath, ask for help, and keep fighting.

Feeya, it's forum rules that if you mention you have a tattoo, you have to post a picture of it up here.

Don't shoot the messenger, I don't make the rules.

Now where's that photo?
Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again, come, come.” Rumi (No sniggering from the sex addicts)

Back when I was living in Germany, a friend and I went up to Amsterdam for a weekend. He got pretty drunk one evening and suddenly decided he wanted a tattoo. I tried to talk him out of it- no success. So, we found a tattoo parlor, walked in and my buddy looked through a book of designs and picked one out. He sat down in the chair and the tattoo artist looked at him and said "You smell of alcohol. I'm not giving you a tattoo. Come back tomorrow when you're sober and then I'll give you one if you still want it." The next day I asked my buddy if he wanted to go back to the parlor and get his tattoo and he didn't even remember going!
