Welcome here cee dubb.

I'll be sending you a couple web links by way of private message concerning cuban AA that I found in the last few minutes. Yes, indeed there are meetings translated to English.
Will let you sort through the links. The cuban general services office is

Oficina de Servicios Generales (Cuba)
Calle 27 #156 e/. L y M
Habana, 10400, Cuba

thanks to you cee dubb I've found out some very interesting things concerning AA in Cuba this morning.

Again---welcome.

I also did a Google search and found some potentially useful info. (I hadn't seen Karl R's post.) That was educational.

Welcome cee dubb, and good luck on your trip. If you can, let us know how the AA meetings turned out for you. It's always interesting to hear about AA in other countries.

Hi,

I am also heading to Cuba in March 2012. I was wondering if you went and if the meeting posted above was in English...

Thank you all!

I'll be going to Veradero mid-February 2012, so if I make it to one of the meetings I'll for sure post how it was. Sounds like 3 English meetings at same location. Staying at large resort outside Veradero so it will be a matter of getting my nerve up to go. Friend I'm going with isn't alcoholic but very much missed my AA connection last year when we were there!
Ciao for now,

Feb.9/12 - So I'm off to Veradaro early Monday. I wondered if anyone was able to get to the local Veradero town meeting in Jan. or very early Feb. 2012, and what it was like!!?? Very much looking forward to getting away. Hope to receive a reply, but will advise whether or not I end up at meeting when I return. Regards, Bugsygirl :)

Hi there. I kept forgetting to update the forum page. We went to Varadero, had dinner and went to the St. Iglisius(?) church in Varadero for the meeting. All I can tell you is that on the Wednesday night, the doors were locked (someone had told me they probably would be anyways). We were there from 7:15 pm until 7:45 pm and no one showed up. It was of course dark by then and my friend and I were starting to get a bit uncomfortable, so we took a taxi back up the coast to our resort. We did not try going again to the Friday night meeting, and left on the following Monday.
My contact here had told me when he went it was tourists (in aa) who came and no actual cubans so it may depend on who may hear about it and want a meeting.
I was sorry to have missed not meeting other people but would go again anytime. Beaches and food and sunshine were fantastic for a dreary February. Any updates from those who had better luck?

I am actually going to Cuba on business next week if the Pope's visit doesn't book all the flights and hotel rooms. Is there anyone on this site that may live in Cuba? I also want to go to the meeting there but really don't want to show up and no one be there. Does anyone have a contact there I can e-mail?
