24 hours

Just a thought. Has it ever been considered to add a daily 24 hours thread?
I ususally get a lot out of reading that.
Again, just a thought.

I'll bite. I like the idea. What would set it apart from other threads? How do we describe it in the list? Is it something we would "seed" every morning, like Paige does he Daily Reflections?

Yeah. It would come right out of the 24 hour book, just like Daily Reflections.
Again, just an idea.

24 Hours a Day is a Hazelton publication. I do not believe we can do what it takes to get the rights to copy it here.

Just to revisit this topic, I believe a request to the publisher might be all it would take to get permission.
This is read at approximately half, if not more, of the meetings I attend, and the publication can be purchased at most meeting places.
As a matter of fact, I just bought a new copy yesterday at a meeting.
Again, just a thought.

Do you know if Hazelton publishes it online?

I don't actually type it from a book copy, I do a copy and paste of the Daily Reflections as submitted by aa.org.

e-AA is an AA group. Just because other groups or meetings claiming to be AA ignore AA's Traditions, doesn't mean we should.

Hi Tony and thanks Ian and Paige for your input!

Just from my involvement with the forums and the e-AA group over the past few years I can report a little bit regarding this suggestion. First of all, our putting up any literature here on the forums is considered publishing and needs to conform to copyright law. This is why we have the copyright notice on the DR quotes and also why we regularly prune that forum, so that at no time is a majority of the DR available via our site (and why we have to keep posting our shares regarding the day of the DR -- the shares from last year have disappeared due to the need to prune).

As far as literature outside of AAWS, there is on top of the copyright issues (which took a long time to come to grips with just with AAWS) the individual group perspective on non-conference approved literature. Our group tends to take a rather traditional line on this issue in group conscience.

I would also like to mention, from a forums coordinator perspective, that we don't have an overwhelming number of shares from our DR postings. In other words, we don't really *need* another another daily meditation forum topic. Strictly from an activity standpoint, I think we might have some empty days there.

I know I sound like a real downer! Sorry! I think the work here in the forums is to figure out where the overflow exists, and to fill that demand with new topics/forums.

So keep the ideas coming :D
