Question

Post by Blue Moon » Sat Jan 05, 2008 9:46 am

Someone mentioned to me that they're having difficulties with composing long posts, in that they get timed-out and reverted back to the login screen, losing all they've typed.

I'm not experiencing this problem, so can't trouble-shoot it very well.

Is anyone else having the same problem? If so, please send me a PM.

Thanks.

Tech support question/suggestion

Post by Adianoeta » Sun Jul 08, 2012 5:41 pm

This may be more of a question than a suggestion, but I didn't see a tech support board so... I have an app on my iPhone that allows me to post in various forums. It asks only for a URL and is working on other sites, but not this one. Am I doing something wrong, or is this forum just not compatible with the app? (I suppose my suggestion is that if it's not, it should be!) Thanks for helping the newb. :)

Well it doesn't and that's the way it is so get a better phone or phone app.
Or maybe read the phone user manual...

The user "MarcLacroix" is not a member of the forums moderators. Please don't take what he posts as a communication from the technical support available in e-AA. He is just making a personal comment that does not represent the e-AA Forums committee nor the e-AA group.

Please let us know how it is working for you, and thanks for being here!

Hi,

I am typing this on a iPhone, in the browser window. So posting from an i-device does work.

If any app is able to post to phpBB3 forums, it should work with this forum. But the e-AA group doesn't offer support to 3rd-party apps on mobile devices... where would we draw the line?

Could "openly" sharing suggestions about tech issues,
as it relates to this group and growth to the cyber AA world become a problem.
would it have been better for me to PM the person, and disclaimer my full knowlege of the 3rd party,
and that i'm not speaking or share for the group as a whole
YES

Yes apon review I think so... thank you Pointing this out... This is an AA recovery forum... on a tech forum
in the future I will PM anything of this nature with the disclaimers.

I have deleted my fist post.

AA is about recovery from Alcoholism and not 'Why doesn't my stupid phone work right?'
That otta' help you draw the line.

Ann;
It is a good thing that I am not a moderator here. I'd 've probably deleted the original post and hurt that person's wittle feelings.

Well, in my own opinion, no -- as a moderator, you have observed how we respond to requests for help, and you have absorbed the positive, helpful manner we attempt to share knowledge. You've accepted guidance by the rest of the committee members -- you respect the parameters of how we operate.

So I think your input within the forum is very useful, and it's also useful to share it with the rest of us who may want to help, and can learn something from you, and who may want to offer the same advice, but can see that you have given it.

Someone who is not part of the general service team may have useful information, but he or she isn't open to applying the basic service face of e-AA. We want to be a group that serves, serves and serves without mucking it up with ego.

Also ignorant. The poster's question had nothing to do with the phone, but with software mods needed for a 3rd-party app to work.

When you have nothing useful to contribute, why not shut up instead of everyone else having to tolerate your behaviour?

Most such apps fall into 1 of 3 categories:

. They force "advertising"
. They cost money
. They don't work

So far, we've kept 3rd-party advertising off e-AA. If someone has a viable suggestion for an ad-free app, please send me a PM so I can look at it (and perhaps find out if the groug would fund it).

Meanwhile, I've just started looking at an alternative possibility.

Spent half an hour trying to figure out how to do to it. I want to remove my forum account and my personal settings that go along with it.

As far as I know, deleting an account is an administrative function. I will go ahead and remove your username.

Thanks for being here!

Her private message to me was also deleted. Thanks Ann, for handling serenity's request.
