Today I'm grateful for...

Post by Mike O » Thu May 12, 2011 3:10 pm

[I think it'd be nice to have this little area just so we can offer up a small gratitude for something we felt/saw/heard/did, etc. today. Lets keep the entries short so that the area can serve as a refreshing thread just to skim through now and then to remind us of what we've got.]

...driving to work at 7am this morning sober, clear-headed and fresh.

Walked without my cane on my new hip for a couple of days now. Got my socks on without the plastic 'sock sled' twice now.

lying on the floor with my 5 year old and smelling her little-girl smell while she plays with my hair . . . . grateful to the program for telling me what is really important, not just getting everything ready, clean and organized :-)

I am sooooo grateful for the AA habit of always looking for the positive when something about my mate disturbs me. And there's so much good stuff with him to draw from -- so grateful that I can use getting ticked off as an excuse to remember all the nurturing and sacrifices.

Last night I was grateful that I actually wasn't scared to go to my "new" meeting. And that I took the risk of sharing, and sooooo grateful to a newcomer -- first came to this meeting after I even started going -- took the time to say how much my share about people laying medallions on the gravestones of Dr. Bob and Anne moved him. And my first friend there made me laugh again with his share . . . he has a real American sense of humor, cracks me up while quite a few others listen without reaction . . . while he shared I remembered the guys who watched over me when I first got to AA, BLESS THEM, they made sure this nutty twenty-something never had to worry about step 13. So I told my bud about that and this person who was sharing about his aggressiveness, about his size and general intimidation factor smiled and said, "you are always safe with me." Gosh AA is FULL of miracles.

love, Ann

I'm grateful today for the fact that there is enough about life which I'm grateful for that it is truly hard to keep the entries short. :-)

Today? Watching my kid of 6 making funny faces in the mirror at the hairdresser, seeing myself standing some ways behind him and just being happy being there. I would need to start another thread to describe all the thoughts and emotions going on in these fifteen minutes...
