Hi,

Is he able to send letters? If so, and if he's in the US, he could write to AA GSO, Box 459, Grand Central Station, NY 10163. They'll hook him up with a correspondent who's an AA member from a suitable area etc.

He would request contact with an AA correspondent. The correspondents don't necessary offer sponsorship per se right off the bat, it would typically start out as general sharing and go from there.

He would also be encouraged to notify GSO when he's due to be released so that they can coordinate a pre-release contact from your home community.
