Seeking Online Sponsor

Most of us who recovered with AA's program did so with the help of a "sponsor". But what is sponsorship? How do I get one? Who can be a sponsor? What makes a good sponsor?

Seeking Online Sponsor

Post by HEWETTBR » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:15 am

I've been sober for almost a year and a half, i'm looking for a sponsor online, i need to have a sponsor for my probation tems but i really want one for my own personal benefit. Someone who i can confide in and discuss some issues that pop up on a week to week basis. Im looking around and figured i would try this as an option. I'm 24 years old and came to the realization that alcohol was destroying the life i was trying to build for myself, so after some run ins with the law i decided enough was enough. Throughout sobriety over the last 14 months I've seen significant positive changes in my life.

My probation officer wants me to find a new sponsor, the one i had for some time didnt work out. I really need someone i can count on but will let me live my life while working the steps. Please get back to me as soon as possible.

You can email me for initial contact and we can go from there.

My recommendation is that you read the posts here, and see if someone has what you want. Then you make the effort to contact someone.

I tried it both ways myself so I am speaking from experience. For me, having someone assigned to me was not as useful a relationship as when I put myself out and asked.

As moderator, I removed your email address from your post because this forum is world-readable and a program could harvest your address for spam purposes. It's not necessary to include that information, since anyone can contact you using the private mail (pm) function of this bbs.

I once heard... and repeat it to others

one good question to ask a perspective sponsor is
"have you had a spiritual awakening as a result of the Steps" ???

if the Answer is "Yes"... it's a perfect match.
