The Greater Seattle Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous
“Burien Little Assembly” occurred 03-10-12.

TbearTodd, Todd M here, alcoholic
It was my privilege to attend this annual gathering with over 600 sober members in attendance.
The Theme was:
Anonymity: AA’s responsibility in the new Digital age.

Workshops on various AA topics took place.
I attended all the ones concerning the Internet.

The one of most interest to me and this group was
“Online AA meetings”, the Presentation included live looks at what the leader called, “the two most used online groups”. There were about 30 folks in the room, With a Projector style setup, we surfed both
http://www.e-AA.org and AAonline dot net

The Presenter “Gail” was more accustom to aaonline.net
And I was the one in the room to talk about e-AA.org
We fielded questions as the room took interest.

After the presentation, I must have talked 2 hours with over 20 individuals wanting to here more about e-AA…
they were asking about some of tech stuff, differences between Email Lists, Forums Discussions, and Real-Time-Chat
also some questions items like registrations, tradition-7 basket, outside advertising and Bot/Spam fears.

OTHER Workshops included
Anonymity difficulties with social sites:
Reviewing how Tagging or Friends lead to trouble
And Face Recognition software used more often by employers world wide.
Tech stuff:
Web site Framing, and Exit statements and Affiliations

We ended the gathering:
with an AA sobriety Count Down, oldest sobriety was 50years-1-member, and we continued all the way to one day.
Every countdown year had at least 1 count.
Stew was served for Dinner followed by Speakers, from both Al-Anon and AA members.

I have found AA Workshops to be a valuable part of my Sober Journey. TbearTodd, Todd M.
There is Hope, Todd M
