Re: How?

I remember the "if only's" I could always tell when my alcoholism was getting worse because the "if only's" would become more frequent thoughts to the point where one time I wished I was alone on an island so I could drink in peace. Today those "if only's" seem crazy. I too seemed to have a black cl...

Re: How?

Hi Dean, Welcome to the forums. When I read that first part about the wine I was like that was totally me! My wife and I would split a bottle, i'd have to sneak to the garage for several belts of jagermeister just to keep that claw around my chest away. My wife always wondered why I was so hammered ...

Re: You Might Be An Alcoholic If?

I love it, this is fun. Midway in my drinking I too searched out the hotels with a bar or restaurant. Later as my alcoholism progressed I ceased interest in being out with people. I started looking for hotels with a fridge in the room, or sometimes i'd order a 2nd fridge so I could fill it with beer...

You Might Be An Alcoholic If?

Thinking back on my life as an alcoholic, I thought it might be fun to make a top ten list. Got any others? You "Might" be an alcoholic if? 1. You can’t drive your motorcycle because you might break the glass bottles in the saddlebags. 2. Your golf bag clinks. 3. The word Oblivion sounds wonderful. ...

Tommy I think you hit it on the head. Gratitude. I feel in many ways "satisfied" and for that I am absolutely grateful. And for once I don't feel that "more more more" feeling. Just "enough". Thank you god.

If The World Ends, I'm Ok.

I got to thinking about the Myan end of the world thing. Suddenly it occurred to me. Not that i'm ready to die or want to die, but if I found out that the world was going to end, i'm ready to meet god. Don't misunderstand. I'm not depressed or suicidal and not looking to have a short life. I just re...

Re: Ethical Delimma

Can you go to AA meetings in a distant city? So while you are figuring this out you can do so anonymously? Are you an alcoholic? Perhaps, or perhaps you are a hard drinker? Not for me to say but if you look at this question from We Agnostics, what do you think as it applies to yourself? If you are c...

Re: Living Sober does help...

I think there is nothing wrong with LS but when used in meetings as if it was the program of recovery I think that is where the bashing starts. I've heard positive things about using LS with newcomers and I think it is up to the sponsor or group to let the newcomer know that it is one of many pieces...

Re: Question as a Sponsor

What step is he on? If he's been around 8 weeks then maybe he needs to find a higher power, make a decision and get to writing some inventory. If he's willing putting in the work it should lead to a spiritual experience that takes care of the drugs too. If not then i'm not sure what you do but say i...

Good tune by old school friends.

I used to run around with a couple guys in this band in high school, they have a band and just put this video out. Good stuff. I thought folks here might connect. The song is called "The Liquor And The Drugs".
