Re: Just sayin Hi

Hi Aaron, welcome, this is a great place to get support and encouragement from people who have been where you are now. I found this site 28 days ago and it has truely helped to get to 28 days sober-one day at a time. I now wake up each morning, pray before even getting out of bed and then come to th...

Re: Slipping back into drinking

Thank you all for your replies. Yeah I tried to do it all again myself, fooled myself, but now I am sitting here in the horrors, went and got legless yesterday, got up this morn and wanted to go do it all again but was too messed up to move (which was a blessing). Yeah I can't do it myself, can't. ...

Re: Today is Overwhelming-Help

Day 25. I am not as overwhelmed. By following some suggestions here I have begun to tackle one thing at a time. The thought of how I was going to fulfill my community service, 180 hrs, (result of March Dui) was keeping my mind racing and getting me nowhere. A simple suggestion I read here turned tha...

Re: Lerthagic mind in early sobriety

That is the pathetic state of the fellowship today. While we have the program of recovery included in the book called Alcoholics Anonymous where one could apply the principles and recover quickly, we talk about these temporary fixes. The material included in the 'Living Sober' book will kill a real...

Re: Lerthagic mind in early sobriety

From my own experience, if you find that you're not really as mentally sharp as you want to be in early sobriety, try taking up a hobby that involves light mental and/or physical excercise. Golf or bowling are great. One of the things I did, at my sponsor's suggestion, is that I bought one of those...

Re: That cross doesn't feel as heavy anymore..

Hi Ruby, So happy your back! Pray and pray and pray, focus on you the fact that you can do this, even if it's one minute at a time. We are all here to help each other, so keep coming back. I saw that you read pg. 295 at your meeting today, so I read it. I identified with the whole story but the last...

Re: Today is Overwhelming-Help

Drinking felt like my only escape from it at times. It's a tough place to be in; I know from experience. A.A. won't solve your problems, but what it will do is enable you to be able to solve them yourself, with - of course - the help of your higher power. Sounds cuckoo, right? Probably. And about t...

Re: Carrying a heavy cross..

Hi Ruby, welcome. You will find alot of support here, I came here 20 days ago feeling desparate and scared. I did'nt know how to do this. I lost my licence in March but continued to drink until I lost my job of 10 years in May. Continued to drink out of fear and shame. I couln't live like that eithe...

Re: New here

Welcome Raul. Keep reading and posting, it opens your mind up to the possibility that you can go one day at a time without a drink. People here are doing it and sharing their experience and earned wisdom. I come here often for a connection to someone else who knows how I feel. It helps. A month ago ...

Re: Today is Overwhelming-Help

I'm happy that you were able to get past the feeling of needing to take a drink. You'd be kicking yourself now if you did. Thanks Ann, Thanks Tex. I now know how to quote, but my PM's are not going thru. Was able to last week. I now see that the anxiety that seemed so bad was nothing compared to th...

Re: Today is Overwhelming-Help

Day 19. Yesterday I had an incredible urge to just take just "one drink" ( ha) to calm down the emotions churning inside. I postponed it for a few minutes and it passed. I was amazed at my willpower. This morning I realize it was GOD not me. I asked for a reprieve from wanting the quick fix and it w...

Re: Today is Overwhelming-Help

Day 16. Feel like i'm standing on a tightrope, I'm in the middle and both ends scare me. I do not want to turn back, thats for sure. But where I'm standing is painful. I always numbed the pain with alcohol, this is new for me-facing life sober. I hate the feeling of feeling right now, but from what ...
