Re: Gutting it out last night

If you stay sober, you are soooooo going to be able to help someone else. :D That's very kind of you. Thanks. I don't know if I'll make it to the 12th step, I'm focused on just making through one more day. But should I, I would very much like to help others. I'm sure it would be very fulfilling. Do...

Re: Anonymity concern

Good question Mike. I was thinking the same thing about the Grapevine in print. "What if someone see it?!?!?"

That's hilarious Lee  !

Re: Marrying a female recovering alcoholic

Hi Matai, My father was an alcoholic, I am an alcoholic, and my daughter is an addict. Like Ann2, I recommend attending some Al-Anon meetings. You will meet other people there who are in relationships with alcoholics and addicts. I attend both AA meetings and Al-Anon meetings. Good luck. Thanks, Rusty

Re: Gutting it out last night

He told me straight to my face across the meeting table that I would drink again. ( I was SO pissed at this guy for doing this ) but ya know what ... he was right... I wasn't there, but how was it helpful for him to tell you that? Maybe it would have been more helpful for him to warn you not to be ...

Re: here for support

Hi Isabelle, welcome. I've only been sober 11 days. I went to my very first meeting on my 3rd day of sobriety and I wish I hadn't even waited that long. We are here for you.

Re: Gutting it out last night

Thank you all. I just think I realized something. The HP could be speaking to me through y'all. I sucked it up and called a guy and asked him to be my sponsor. I have a sponsor now. It was real hard, but y'all helped convince me that if I didn't do it I was going to go back to drinking. You are on h...

Re: Gutting it out last night

Thanks guys. I'm sorry for dumping all this on y'all. I suck at interacting with people in real life. I feel like I can't be myself f2f. I have like a dual life. the person I present in real life is not really me. This is part of the reason I don't have a sponsor. I'm afraid to get close to people. ...

Re: Gutting it out last night

I don't have a sponsor. I thought I had done steps 2 and 3 but now I'm doubtful.

Gutting it out last night

Hi all, I'm Rusty and I'm an alcoholic, I feel really stupid. Today is the tenth day of my recovery. Last night I wanted a drink more than anything. I gutted it out. I didn't call anyone. I skipped my meeting to go trick-or-treating with my 7 year old daughter. I got home from trick-or-treating and ...

Re: Unable to attend meetings

Why not start a meditation diary here? "Day 1: Restless, irritable, discontented; next door neighbours dogs kept barking; just got settled and the phone rang, and then when I sat back down, I kept on thinking about onions for some strange reason. Then my face started getting itchy. Ah that Tosh on ...

Re: Hello

Hi LB, I would like to recommend you get some phone numbers of fellow alcoholics. For me it's been a life line. I thought it was a dumb idea at first, but, for me, just talking to someone for a few minutes about it, and knowing that someone cares really helps. Saturday I visited my daughter in rehab...

Re: Advice needed

Hi MD, I read your story and I can totally relate. I have a good job, I never missed a rent payment, I haven't crashed my car, I haven't been arrested, I haven't been to rehab, I haven't been violent when drunk. But reflecting back over the past 9 days that I've been sober I honestly can only say th...

Re: What does step 3 mean to you?

Thanks guys. Both good answers. I will take them to heart. Keep up the good work, Rusty, and you just might end up being a sponsor even before you find one! Haha, yeah, if I wait too long I suppose  ! My group has a Sunday morning meeting. The guy that asked me if I've thought about gett...
