Re: New. Glad I found you all.

Welcome MadameM. Congratulations on your sobriety. Meetings are tough on people like me too. I'm really shy in real life. In the Big Book it says that you have to be willing to go to any length for sobriety. It's hard for me to go to the meetings. When they go around the room for each person to talk...

Re: Need some help please.

Welcome adamland. It's hard to not drink too much if you're an alcoholic. I know what you mean. I was the same way with drinking. I tried to be a social drinker but inevitably ended up drinking too much, getting angry. It "got ugly" several times. My wife is actually a social drinker, not an alcohol...

Re: Gutting it out last night

Mike, I appologize for not making myself more clear. I am not currently on medication or under the care of a psychiatrist or any mental health professional. I was in the past on medication for depression. It's my fault for not being more clear.

Had My First Drinking Dream

Hi all, I'm Rusty and I'm an alcoholic. Thankfully I had read here somewhere about us having drinking dreams so this is more amusing than disturbing. If I hadn't read about it I would think there was something wrong with me  I was having dinner with my wife, kids, and my mother. She's a big win...

Re: Gutting it out last night

Thanks for sharing Ann and Lali. My mother has told me she thinks I am bipolar, but I don't see the extreme highs. I suppose it's possible that I can't see them because I enjoy the extreme highs and I don't see them as a problem. It's the extreme lows that I find problematic. Maybe a trip to the doc...

I learned a lot from going to Al-Anon meetings. My only advice is to attend a few different meetings before you make up your mind about it.

Thanks,

Re: Anonymity concern

Awesome, thank you. I will most certainly check out the free trial. I haven't looked into it very much as I am still reading the Big Book in my spare time.

Thanks,
Rusty

Re: Anonymity concern

So is the "online" verion is the same as the "digital" version except it includes the audio and the archive of old editions?

How is the "print version, digitally" delivered? Is it a PDF?

Thanks,
Rusty

Re: Gutting it out last night

Do I just need a swift kick in the ass to get off the pity pot? No, you just need to understand you are heading for another drink/drunk if you do not get started in Step Four. Everything you said makes sense. It's exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you. I will do that right now. I was supposed to...

Re: Marrying a female recovering alcoholic

Also, another question. She has a close male friend who is also in AA who relies on her and confides in her. I've been feeling that a single guy confiding to a soon to be married woman may be inappropriate. Is this kind of relationship common in AA? No, I don't think so. On my first day at AA, my g...
