Re: Confused - been to several meetings and I just don't kno

The instructions are not on the wall. Those are just the titles. How do you know if you can work any of the steps if you do not read the instructions in the Text?

It doesn't matter how you identify yourself,...
Maybe it's true that it doesn't matter. Maybe not.

I chose to cooperate. It is not that hard to cooperate for the duration of a meeting.

Re: Signs for my home group - where to find?

In my old home group, I came to every meeting seeing five small signs on the wall; live and let live, one day at a time, easy does it, think, think, think and but for the Grace of God (see attachment). They were the first "one-liners" I recall and are still important to me today. My current home gr...

Re: The drugs v alcohol debate

This is an old debate but a necessary debate, when I remove my opinion from this debate I’m left with the traditions that are singleness of purpose and primary purpose I also believe that when we have an AA meeting we should have aa meeting . There are still many alcoholics out there, who suffer fr...

Re: On edge

50+ days since last drink and same amount of time in the program attending meetings but the pink cloud has worn off. I don't feel like getting drunk but do feel like smoking a joint if I had one. They say it "gets better" but everything that causes my stress and anxiety isn't getting any better. I ...

Re: spouse recovery and return

I had to join Al-Anon in early sobriety, not because 'she' or 'he' or 'they' were alcoholic, but because I over reacted to their drinking, not drinking, actions, in-actions, etc. etc. I joined and met people like me who had found a way to appy the 12 Steps to those over-reactions. Had I not joined I...

Re: committee in your head

Thanks everybody for your replies (so far)... I was looking for the exact words somewhere. I guess I thought perhaps "the committee in your head" came out of one of the personal stories, and maybe from one of the older editions of the Big Book. (I have only read the 3rd & 4th edition stories). Old ...

Re: I feel like an outsider in my home group

Each time I have chosen to leave a group I have let them know why I am leaving. I appreciate it when others do so also. Maybe you are needed there. Maybe they need to hear how they affect others. Maybe your higher power has alowed you to feel this stress so that you can bring a new level of awarenes...
