Re: keep the drugs out

This thread was started in 2007. I have already taken my own swings at this dead horse, yet here I go again... I was part of the problem. I am a real alcoholic and in my alcoholism I abused and craved drugs in addition to alcohol. My recovery from alcoholism requires that I remain drug free as much ...

Re: Powerlessness

My comment is about the catagory that this post is in. The catagory is The 12 Steps . This original post does not address a Step specifically, except for it's Title " Powerlessness ". I have no opinion to offer to the post except that it might fit better in the Discussion catagory or even in the If ...

AA's General Service Conference

AA's annual General Service Conference is in session in New York this week.

Let's keep them in our prayers as the gather from all AA Areas in U.S. and Canada to discuss AA's message of hope and consider how to carry that message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

Re: never finish anything

I also had trouble with tasks left undone. As I worked the steps I could see more of how and why that happened. I was also steered into getting involved with me home AA group. I was asked to volunteer to greet people, to help count the basket, to help the chair person and eventually to chair a meeti...

Re: Powerlessness

How does this fit into the subject of AA's 12 Steps?

What does AA literature say about this subject?

Re: New here, Anxiety problems and drinking, feedback needed

HI DUDE, Welcome to e-AA. alcoholism (as AA understands it) affects us physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Anxiety is one of the many problems I have had and that the 12 Steps have been effective in helping, one day at a time. An AA group can help. So can we. You are welcome at both....

Alcohol and variations thereof: http://www.weekendwinnerworkshop.org/Pics/AlcoholFormula.jpg http://www.weekendwinnerworkshop.org/Pics/AlcoholFormulas.jpg Sometimes it is necessary to get technical(cryptic). :D Marc This is outside the scope of what A.A> offers thus is an "outside issue" and thus a...

Re: Share or not share....keep hearing different

Hi Lyneeta, Welcome to e-AA and please continue to share with us. Many AA members are sick, even after years of 'time' in AA. I heard the admonition to 'put the cotton in my mouth' when I was new. The Home Group, that I chose as the group I would commit to, did occasionally express this notion, but ...

Re: The drugs v alcohol debate

This looks like a good time to repost this article. This is a nice article that was written by Bill W in 1958: Problems Other Than Alcohol: What Can Be Done About Them? by Bill W. -- A.A. Grapevine, February, 1958 [Any time is a good time to review our relations with each other and with the world ou...

Re: Sick, sick, sick .... memories.

I cook myself a chicken soup from scratch. Boiled chicken with the bones fills the air with moisture. I breath it in as I stir in garlic and chopped ginger and etc. Sometimes noodles sometimes rice. I add a lot of redpepper to get the sinuses busted open. I continue to breath in the steam as I sip t...

Re: I'm starting my own meeting! (and home group stuff)

I don't see how starting a group where you hold the only key addresses any of the complaints that you have listed. Won't you be required to show up at ALL of the Thursday meetings? How will you then "switch things up"? Will you just shut the door some Thusday nights because you don't want to be tied...

Thanks for letting us know that. You have not indicated whether you have entirely quit drinking or whether you want to.

You haven't really told us yet. Do you believe that you have alcoholism?
