Re: Annoyed

I actually thought deer were quite intelligent compared to sheep. Sheep don't leap out from the forest but they do always decide at the last second as your driving past to cross to the other side of the road. Very dumb.

Re: Want a Drink NOW after 13 years.

Good to hear things are getting better for you Hoho. And welcome :D I had an interesting reaction to some bad news recently. I found out a friend of mine has got secondary cancer, she is 38 and has a child. I went to visit her in hospital (she is recovering from an operation to remove a tumour in he...

Re: Finely My 1st meeting

Hi Dave I found going to the first meeting the hardest, but like you, once I got there it was great. People are genuinely pleased to see you, which is a nice feeling. What always amazes me is how these seemingly normal looking people can be alcoholics! Most of them are so serene and contented, I tho...

Re: Anonymity Question

Thanks for your replies everyone. It has been very helpful. One member at the meeting was quite critical of the fellow that brought the subject up because she felt he was breaching anonymity; so that was what I was mainly concerned about. The fact that she is a lesbian is not a problem for me - I'm ...

Anonymity Question

Hi all At a meeting last week someone brought up that a woman that had been attending meetings in our area (she lives in another town) had relapsed and had contacted him asking for help (I'm not sure what sort of help she was asking for). He told us all her name and suggested that perhaps some of th...

Re: Made it another day

Hi Dave
I think Chris' advice is very apt. Don't use this as an excuse to drink (because that would be what my mind would be telling me to do). Hang in there. Can you get to a meeting outside your town? i.e. is there a town nearby that has meetings that your wife doesn't attend?

Re: 90 days - is it different the first time?

The first two 3 month stints I had passed without much celebration - I was going to a small meeting (2-3 others) and they never mentioned chips, 90 in 90 or anything like that. It wasn't until I was a regular user of this forum that I discovered that there were such things as chips. The meetings I a...

Re: The "Mental Obsession" to drink

Hi Ken Yes, I have come to similar conclusions re: my higher power. I have a friend who is a theoretical physicist and she thinks string theory is a load of rubbish, and is hoping that her theories will bear out when they turn on the LHC again. I don't have very many discussions with her about it ho...

Re: Hello, I'm new. And I just want it to stop.

Hi Nectarine! Kerie here... pleased to meet you. Amazing how you come across as very normal and rational in your posts, but what crazy stuff you get up to when you're drinking! It can make us pretty insane! Have you been able to get to a meeting? I found the combination of this forum and face to fac...

Re: Working on 6 Day's

Hi Dave Kerie, an alcoholic from New Zealand. A little late but..... welcome here :D Good to hear things have improved a little for you and congrats on 10 days. Can you get to a different meeting from the one that your wife goes to? I imagine it would be pretty hard seeing her there. Do try to get t...

Hi Chicabreck
Your post sounds very familiar. That alcoholic thinking; my brain would do anything to get me to take a drink. Hang in there - good advice here re: connecting with your higher power.

I'm glad you're sticking with it.
