Re: Day 2?

Sobriety gives you a chance but no guarantees, drinking guarantees you have no chance.

Re: Taking the next step

Hi Boston Girl Welcome :D I too am lucky that I have a wonderful partner that allowed me to come to the realization that my drinking was out of control. Most people had no idea that I had a problem with alcohol as I drunk mainly at home, but he understood and could see what was happening. Unfortunat...

Re: Hi again

Hi Gregory I'm Kerie, an alcoholic too. Thanks for your honesty, I used to get the impression that once you stopped drinking that all problems were solved.... but as Ann says - as alcoholics things don't get better without doing some work. Which is what I need to be doing. I'm in the process of maki...

Re: Unmanageable?

My end goal today is not about getting what I want, it is about wanting what I have.
Excellent, thanks. That was exactly what I needed to hear this evening.

The weather

It sounds as though you Northern Hemispherians are having a terribly cold winter. If it's any consolation it has been snowing on the hills here around my home - it's supposed to be summer!

Re: Help.

Hi DC I guess I was "lucky" in that I did some really embarrassing things when I was drunk when I was only 15. I was so mortified that I didn't have another blackout again, ever. But my drinking continued on and off and I realised I had no control over it. It took me several years to really get that...

Re: Need help doing it correctly the second time...

Hi Rider I just wanted to let you know that I've been where you are - I never had any problems with the law/never drank in the morning etc. BUT I did want to drink less and I tried and tried to moderate my drinking. I finally admitted that I can't moderate it, the only way for me is abstinence. I've...

Re: Step 4

Hi Neicey There probably isn't any normal response to doing the steps. I enjoyed doing my fourth step, it wasn't hard to recall the stuff as I had thought about it a lot. I was happy to get it off my chest. Steps 8 and 9 have been hard though. I really didn't want to think about having to make amend...
