Re: Cross-sharing?

Just to clarify, the chairperson does get to share. It's a small meeting usually with 7-12 people. So they aren't doing it because they don't get to share. I've tried to justify it by saying that the comments are usually made with the right intention and out of a genuine desire to help, but it still...

Cross-sharing?

I kind of have two home groups. In one, sometimes the person who chairs the meeting speaks after each person has spoken, sometimes making a suggestion, which can sometimes spark off a bit of an discussion between the person who has just shared and the person chairing the meeting. It can get heated, ...

Condolences to you Gregory.
How wonderful that you were able to look after him; I could never imagine a practicing alcoholic doing that.
Thinking of you at this time.

Re: Private Messaging

I'm only adding this because I got confused about it myself .
Yes, it took me a lot of trying different things to send my messages properly before I finally figured that one out! :D

Welcome Emily :D
Hope you're still lurking around here somewhere....
I had to try and stop drinking to realise I had a drinking problem. When I couldn't stop it became obvious; that's not to say that I did stop then..... I had a few more years of "experimenting" before I got honest with myself.

Re: Pain the touch stone of growth

I think the book is a tool designed to get us sober and introduce us to a spiritual way of living; it's not something designed for us to fight over small phrases which by themselves are meaningless.
This is one of the most sensible statements I've read.....

Thanks Ken

Hi Allamerican
I don't understand what you are saying here - can you elaborate?

Re: My name's Kate (and i'm an alcoholic)

Maybe AA is not for you. I’m only saying this because I don’t know how you can benefit from a program that you question on some many counts. I too have had some of the same questions that Kate has raised and enjoyed the discussions she has raised. I have benefited from the programme of AA and I fee...

Re: Need help doing it correctly the second time...

Hey Rider I hear ya' I spent a couple of years in and out of AA partly because I couldn't relate to the stories of other alcoholics. I was never THAT bad. But I still felt wrong and I still couldn't control the amount of drinking I did. As Martin says the words in the "We Agnostics" chapter gives th...
