BOOZEQUEEN ~ Thanks for your post!!! I too made horrible decisions when I was drinking. The stupidest, most idiotic things seem to make so much sense when we are drunk. There is hope. You CAN change!!! And it's not even that hard!! AA changed my life and I no longer feel like a totally worthless pie...

Re: My Greatest Fear

Thanks Brock. Good to know. Regarding ego....I was thinking after I posted on this topic earlier today and I came to the conclusion that it SEEMS like my fear grew exponentially once I learned and started practicing what I could of humility. This link between the two is just a guess, but it feels li...

Re: My Greatest Fear

TIMOTHY: Wow!! You described me to a "T"!! I have had a terrible time overcoming the fear of people not thinking I am perfect. I still struggle!!! When I worked the steps a second time with a new sponsor and was super thorough, it was revealed to me in my 4th step that my most prominent fear was tha...

Re: Our troubles

SWCODING: Welcome!! Excellent topic!!! I think the authors were trying to inch us away from the Self-centered victim role that most alcoholics play in the beginnning of recovery. It's very difficult sometimes for us to realize that we could ever do anything wrong...boils down to that stinking ego. T...

Re: Pain Medication

Welcome Matt!! I never had a pill problem either. However, if I am in a position to have to take a controlled substance such as pain meds, I like them. I like them a lot. I LIKE THEM TOO MUCH!!!!! But I have seen AA members try to go without proper medicine when they are in extreme pain like you.......

LANSBURY, Awwwwww I am so happy for you!!! Wow! I am always so amazed at the way God works in our program!! Do you see what He did there??? DAYS before she prayed to be helpful to someone, you were thinking of her as a sponsor; perhaps even prayed for a good sponsor. Even if you didn't pray that pra...

Re: Forgiveness

Aww thanks Brock!! That means a lot!! I will give it a listen. As far as spirituality and AA....I cannot tell you how many hours I have sat in a church. I NEVER felt spiritual until AA. I feel like AA bridged the gap for me. Church is good, don't get me wrong, but it was colorless, only shades of gr...

Krisscanlon1969: Personally, I see no need to do a repeat of step 4 and 5 if one is diligent in working step 10. I also use the Joe and Charlie prompt sheets for this sometimes, they are an excellent tool and help me to be very thorough if I am having trouble seeing my part. "...and promptly admitte...

Re: Forgiveness

For me, forgiveness is a process, not a single event. It takes a while...sometimes a long while "I recon" (as Positrac would say, haha!!). Brock, such a coincidence that you used something from Rohr.....my husband and I are attending a study on his book Breathing Under Water beginning this Sunday. ...
