Re: Other drugs at meetings...

Chronic J Walker? Are chronic "jaywalkers' powerless over their jaywalking and that their lives have become unmanageable (as a result)? Is jaywalking an addiction? I doubt I could be kind and avoid "critiquing" if I said anymore. But, I need not say more because the problems with the posting are sel...

Re: Other drugs at meetings...

Still, I seem to recall that AA principles frown on taking others' inventory and encourages us to focus on our own Interestingly, if you review the 4th Step in the Big Book, it starts out by explicitly instructing the reader to take everyone else's inventory. It even goes into specific examples: "M...

Re: Other drugs at meetings...

Our liquor was but a symptom. So we had to get down to causes and conditions. pg 64 Of the Big Book So, what is an Pure Alcoholic if alcohol is but a Symptom? I define a "pure" alcoholic as having no other addiction other than alcohol, not dually or cross-addicted. As for the symptom comment, it on...

Re: Other drugs at meetings...

I took a suggestion from this thread and decided to take my own inventory concerning this thread, especially since I have done a fair amount of responding thus far. These are the results I came to after completing that inventory. I believe my actions were done in a sincere effort to hold up a mirro...

Re: Walked out of two meetings this week

It's been well over a month since I replied to this post and over six weeks since I attended a meeting. Here I my thoughts. I remain strong and sober. I have no desire to drink alcohol ever again. Why? Because I know what it will do to my life if I do. Did a "Higher Power" play any part of this? NO...

Re: Other drugs at meetings...

The point is when you take others inventory, or "critique" them, you are taking your own inventory... Hmm. No, I'm taking theirs. Still, I seem to recall that AA principles frown on taking others' inventory and encourages us to focus on our own, and I think this forum has a guideline that suggests ...

Re: Alano Clubs - Breaking Tradition?

I thank you Noels. As AA principles suggest, I should focus on my behavior. I haven't been perfect for which I apologize. But, I have made an effort to tone down my responses even editing some after the fact. I have had some difficulty understanding, but have made some efforts to do so: it is better...

Re: Other drugs at meetings...

I am aware that I am doing it, evidently you don't view yourself as doing it as well. Try counting the thumb When I point a finger at someone, my thumb doesn't point back me. Its good to know that we are anatomically different. My thumb curves backward when fully extended like when I am pointing a ...

Re: Other drugs at meetings...

When you point a finger at another, you have four (4) pointing at you...... I am aware that by responding, I have three pointing back at me. Does that hold true for you in your last reply? Since I wasn't pointing a finger... Try counting the thumb... Still, three versus one... And so much for humil...

Re: Other drugs at meetings...

A lot of times the faults we perceive in other people are actually aspects of our own character that we subconsciously don't like about ourselves. If you want to be accurate, "it is those things I dislike in others that I dislike in myself." The point is when you take others inventory, or "critique...
