Re: BB page 60

I look at self-will as a tool to keep me close to my higher power. I've taken the steps but the commitee in my head keeps telling me "look how well you're doing....you can have the rains back..Spammer on just run the show for a day." Sometimes I take back my will and sometimes don't recognize it unt...

Re: Take what you need...And leave the rest.

Am i in the Middle of a Pissing contest !!!!!!!!!!!! Yep...this happens alot...This site is quite different then my brand of AA...rarely do we debate the big book...we're not afraid to talk about God and we stick to how the solution helped to get and keep us sober. We like to stick to what AA is su...

Re: Carry the message

Thanks Niagra I couldn't agree more. Not sure what the debate is about folks. This whole process is about finding a power greater than ourselves..to tap that unsuspected inner resource. Well I'm her to say I have this higher power..or dare I say God..and its no one who sits in the rooms of aa...not ...

Re: Take what you need...And leave the rest.

I hear alot of people talk about this "our book is meant to be suggestive only"...However there are quite a few MUSTS and REQUIREMENTS that are part of working the steps. The first REQUIREMENT is that we be convinced that any life run on self-will can hardly be a success. Alcoholics Anonymous page 6...

Re: Struggling and don't know what to do!!

Most of us have been unwilling to admit we were real alcoholics. No person likes to think he is bodily and mentaly different than his fellows. Therefore, it is not suprising that our drinking careers HAVE BEEN CHARACTERIZED BY COUNTLESS VAIN ATTEMPTS TO PROVE WE COULD DRINK LIKE OTHER PEOPLE. THE I...

Re: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE

no Brock it wasn't a swing at you for being rich or having a nice meal out with your wife, it was a swing at you because you was not willing to pay back to aa or give your time to help around aa instead you would rather go out and enjoy the finer things in life and leave others to do the work in aa...

Re: Half measures avail us nothing

Thought I would start a new thread discussing some of the half measures going on in AA. The sub-text sounds like, "Let's all take other people's inventories". Maybe it's not a good idea? That is not my intention my friend...I just see it all the time and wanted to hear what others think. I ...

Half measures avail us nothing

Thought I would start a new thread discussing some of the half measures going on in AA. I was at a men's meeting this morning "Brother's in Sobriety" is what its called. This is a closed meeting in which a speaker shares their experience, strength and hope for 10 to 15 minutes followed by a topic di...

Re: A giude to the 12 steps

We have shown how we got out from under. You say, “Yes, I’m willing. But am I to be consigned to a life where I shall be stupid, boring and glum, like some righteous people I see? I know I must get along without liquor, but how can I? Have you a sufficient substitute?” Yes, there is a substitute an...

Re: A giude to the 12 steps

these are the sorts of things the old timers carry with them as a message, they show that not matter what goes on in life there is no need now to ever return for a drink, i remember one old timer sitting in the meeting when his wife of 50 years died, his soul mate, he was so lost and alone, everyon...

Re: A giude to the 12 steps

This message of "just don't drink and go to meetings" is absolute BS...this crap has the power to kill!!!! There is way too much sharing of how it used to be Pete...what about how it is today??? Don't get me wrong there is value In sharing what it was like.. pg 17 The feeling of having shared in a c...
