Re: I am new

You're doing fine, Shyster. All your feelings are normal, and you can tell your husband -- there is no breach there.

Re: I feel so numb

We know what you're saying, and Shunpiker has it right -- there is an answer. The Big Book (Alcoholics Anonymous) is available free online -- take a look at the beginning, in the chapter "The Dr.'s Opinion," and let us know if you see yourself in that. Alcoholism is a progressive disease, and that m...

Welcome, Silkworth.

Spending time here has helped me through rough times, and it's worth a look through these posts as you continue sobriety. Please let us know how you're doing.

As was mentioned above, making a decision is vastly important. It can be done, and it is worth it. Let us know what you see in "The Dr.'s Opinion."

Are you working on the steps and talking to other alcoholics?

Re: I can't stop anymore

Pat,

Take a look at the Big Book, Alcoholic's Anonymous, on line, and read the chapter titled "The Dr.'s Opinion." It might take you 20 minutes, but might give you enough insight to continue toward a healthier life.

Re: IM STILL DRINKING BUT I'M HEAR cause you understand...

Chazzy, You would feel so very much better if you put down the bottle. Halve measures avail nothing -- there is some peace available to you, but you have to stop drinking. Anxiety will become less obvious, less debilitating. Take a look at the Big Book, available on-line, and read "The Dr.'s Opinion...

Re: Excuses we make to drink

Hi shadyky, The excuse to have a drink because I hadn't had one for a period of time is the one I used for years, and then that turned to decades. It's like being on a rollercoaster, one with no end in sight. You should take a look at the Big Book, available online, and read "The Dr's Opinion," the ...

Re: Choosing gratitude.

What I think is that if you're not sober you're not in the program. If you've been sober for 30 days, you've been in the program for 30 days. Just throwing it out here.

Re: Use of meeting rooms space

"Game night" seems to have been getting tacked onto all sorts of things in the past few years. Personally, I don't like it at all, and being a member of the fellowship and then having to wonder whether or not I had to play a board game after a meeting to please someone would not be my cup of tea. Th...

Re: Hello

Read around the forums, and you will get a tremendous amount of information. You have made a step -- coming here. When I first realized I couldn't get sober on my own -- and it took a lot of time before that happened -- I reached out and found the strength I needed and thought I didn't have. People ...

Re: A few questions

Every once in a while you will relate. This is a key component to getting and staying sober. You haven't given yourself a lot of time, yet, and this is not a quick fix -- have you read in the Big Book yet? Look at The Dr.'s Opinion, the first chapter. You will feel better, I can promise that. Hang i...

Re: spouse against AA

Jessica, you're still early in recovery. Things will calm down at home after a while, but this is not something that is a quick fix -- both of you need to get used to a change in the air. You yourself are the focus of sobriety right now, and that needs to be the priority.

Re: The problem I have with AA

Put down the pamphlet. It is causing you unnecessary worry. Look into the BB, instead, and read "The Dr.'s Opinion," It is the book that has helped so many of us achieve our goals in sobriety. If you want to stop drinking, you need to put down the drink, too.
