Re: Brand new but - too young for this.?

Don't feel like you have already gone too far down the wrong road, there is always a point to turn around and decide not to go back. I'm 21 and almost got kicked out of the military because of underage drinking. I know I can be a really great person when I'm sober so I just remind myself of all the ...

Re: Is AA for me?

I'll agree with MitchellK on this one in that AA is for anyone who wants to recover. If you have a problem and you feel like AA is helping in any way, don't let your sponsor say you shouldnt be there. Only you can decide if it is right for you or not.

Re: Alcohol in food?!?

Agreed Jimbo, it is the mindset that matters. Sometimes crazy things happen like that and the only thing that makes the difference is how you react to the situation.

Re: Drink like a "normal" person? Really?

I definitely grew up around different types of drinkers. My mother has, for as long as I can remember, come home every day from work and had 1 or 2 drinks and that was it. Never a problem, she would stretch them over a 5 hour period until bed and they did nothing other than cheer her up. My father w...

Re: Am I An Alcoholic?

Hey, I'm 20 and am finally seeing the end of that phase where everyone needs to go out and get shwasted just to make a statement. I know plently of people who always had to drink the world dry at your age and have since grown out of it. The real truth of whether or not you have a legitimate problem ...

Re: How young is young?

I'm 20 and 29 doesn't seem old at all to me. Either way I don't think it matters where you post something as long as you get your thoughts and feelings out for others to see and help.

Forrest, you have made it this far, don't go back to where you don't want to be. Just remember how you felt that day and remember why you don't want to be there again. We are all here for you, know that.

Re: Anyone in Austin TX??

Hey Colton, sorry I'm in 'rado, but if you're ever up here give me a shout. Congrats on the sobriety and just always know that you are not alone. I'm 20 and have had to make some big life changes, but since I have things have really brightened up. It's hard being young and not being able to do what ...

Re: Where does the 90 days come from?

I couldn't tell you about what effect 90 meetings in 90 days has mentally on a person, but I was told in some classes I had to attend by a doctor that yes, 90 days is roughly the time it takes for the body to cleanse itself of toxins from drinking. If I remember correctly it was 30 days from the tim...

Hello Char! Welcome back, and just remember that everything that has happened is in the past. It can stay there if you want it to, but remember also that if you let your guard down there's a good chance you will be right back where you were before. We're all here to help, so don't hesitate to talk a...

welcome back, aaron, glad to hear you're alright after what happened! I use times like those to remind me of where I don't want to be ever again. In trouble, waking up thinking "man, did that actually happen?". Not fun.

Re: 6 days sober

Hey Rob, good to hear others who are active in athletics, IMO i would just try to keep busy and always be looking at the next event or race for motivation to stay away from the alcohol. Instead of a beer after a race, have a big glass of juice or something healthy and your body will thank you.
