Re: Where does "willingness" begin

The willingness I am referring to is the willingness to not drink no matter what. Is that Step 1, 2, 3? Step zero? Not until we have a spiritual awakening? As far as I know that is from the LifeRing program and not AA. I've never been willing to not drink no matter what and I didn't need it to work...

Re: Reconciliation? Trying not to project.

Clingng on the old and expecting something new isn't working. At least it didn't work for me.

Re: I want to kill myself, I cant deal with life anymore

Hi Chris, have you ever heard about the gift of desparation? I know it sucks to be in a situation where suicide seems to be the better option, but if it you would feel better you wouldn't want to change anything. It wasn't AA I had problems with when I got sober but the thought of not having alcohol...

Re: loving sober mornings hating sober nights

Hi Melrose, not drinking, reality sets in after a while and it isn't always pretty to look at it. Like others have shared before I'd been feeling lonely almost my whole life but drinking somewhat covered that. For me, it wasn't until I'd established a spiritual connection with my Higher Power, that ...

Hi Jessica. As long as you don't have a desire to stop drinking it will be very hard to impossible to quit.

It's up to the member involved to be honest or not.

Re: When to find a new sponsor?

I had a sponsor who kept telling me I wasn't ready to do amends. It turned out later she hadn't done them herself and didn't have experience to share.

Re: HELP ME!! I think I am an angry Dry Drunk.

I talked about two hours ago with the recently divorced wife of a violent drunk. He'd broken her some ribs while being drunk and that's when she filed for divorce. From what I'd heard over the months he was a nasty, crazy guy and she was afraid of him. After the divorce he went for some kind of ther...

Welcome Melissa. Good, you're reaching out for support. I'm currently in the process of moving and it would probably be difficult to give you the time a newcomer needs, but if you can't find someone else feel free to contact me.

Re: Which BIG BOOK should I buy?

Lali, at Recovery Emporium you can buy "The Little Big Book Dictionary" with definitions of the words used in the BB and I believe also an index of it. Since English isn't my first language it was very useful to me (you can look it up online).

Re: Which BIG BOOK should I buy?

I still have my fallen apart first BB, but am using the one my also AA partner gave me. The books come and go. Whenever I'd been in the US I bought literature and spread it here. One time, pretty early on, I had my hand luggage full with AA stuff. At the security check I had to unpack my whole bag a...

Re: Fear of AA. Fear of life.

My mother and grandparents (who raised me) died within two years. Instead of being a caring daughter and granddaughter it was all about me. I didn't care about them at all, only how their misery would affect me. How dare they to die on me? I'd been really angry with them for putting me into such a s...
