Re: alcohol free beers/largers

i was taught early on- if i am drinking water in a wine glass- or ginger ale in a champagne glass- i have not accepted my disease- i am playing games- and game playing was a big part of my drinking MO- fake beer??? it's a *pretense that i want to be a sober person*- Step 1- powerlessness- is the onl...

Re: question about open meetings

I agree with Ann- the steps of AA are a terrific blueprint for life-
for all of us-
there is a book called the 12 Steps for Everyone- I know Amazon sells it-
and the al-anon mtg you go to might have it as well.

open meetings are just that- open- for anyone

Re: I've Relapsed

I think you have just shown us how powerful our disease can be- I remember well looking for any sort of excuse I could come up with- I hit myself in the head with a garden hose once- great reason for justifying a drink at 10AM- I had to want to BE a sober person before I got honest about my excuses-...

Re: Can I ask a couple of questions?

I agree with Paige- if AA is ever in trouble- it's going to come
from within- it's going to come from being so rigid we can't see beyond
the *rules*- I think you did right on both questions.

Re: Gratitude

thanks everyone- I too need and love to talk about gratitude cause it is too easy sometimes to forget. I have a page from our church newsletter with a big caption- **What if all I had today was what I thank God for yesterday??**- powerful reminder for me -- and a member of my HG keeps reminding me t...

I'm 65- and whenever I am puzzled by something online- I ask my 10 yr old
grandson- scary thing is- after he rolls his eyes and grins at me- he knows
the answers!! he showed me how to transfer picture from my old little flip phone
to facebook! it works!~!

Re: Sponsors Giving "Willingness Tests"?

I haven't read every read every single post on this subject- but the heading caught my eye- I HAD a willingness test- back in the late 80's- I was over 5 yrs sober in AA and my first sponsor wanted to back off after her husband died- so I asked a friend from another group I did not attend regularly-...

Re: I've Had Enough Discussion Meetings

. <<<<<If you Google Clarence Snyder Big Book Sponsorship, you will see a discussion on this. I got myself into a bit of trouble in the past, when on this site I said this was the reason AA success rates have fallen dramatically, but this is documented by several area inter groups.>>>>>> i would be ...

Re: How Anonymous Are You?

If it makes sense and serves a purpose I'll identify myself as a sober alcoholic. If it doesn't I don't. Last night I headed for my car, on my way to the BB study meeting and a neighbor came over with her Sheltie to chat a bit. She asked where I was heading and I said I was going to meet up with so...

Re: HELP ME!! I think I am an angry Dry Drunk.

I was DRIVEN to my first meeting by the way I was feeling. That's the proper use of negative afflicting emotions! We transform negative stuff into positive in A.A.. It's easy to grow spiritually when we're new; we just go to a meeting. i agree with Tosh- look what you call yourself- angry...

Re: unaccepting AA group

i was taught what Tosh's priest said- my higher power is mine- and i don't have to explain it to anyone - in or out of AA - that message opened a huge door of acceptance for me cause to this day - i can't explain to you exactly what i believe--- beyond the concept that my higher power is most defini...

Re: New Friends in AA?

i guess we all have our own definitions of exactly what *friends* are- my husband is my very best friend- has been for years- then comes a rather large family--- i could perhaps identify alot of them as friends as well as family- but -hmmmmm- i have boatloads of friendly acquaintances- people i have...
