well done for hanging on in there with your partner he is a very lucky guy to have some one stand by him, but i doubt he will see that just yet if you attend al anon then you should open up there about how you feel as in al anon they will fully understand as most of them will have all felt just like...

Re: What Makes A Meeting Great?

What Makes A Meeting Great? my motive for being there and my attitude Short answers like these have truth in them, but sometimes even the best of motives and attitudes can’t stand up. My motive is usually to try and help others, and perhaps hear something which helps me, and my attitude is usually ...

Re: Difficult to practice spiritual principles @ home?

they say if you want to see how sober an aa member really is then follow them home I had to learn how to take how I was in the meetings home with me it's very easy to be helpful in the rooms etc but the hardest thing is to be that way in the home one wife of a fellow aa member said to him that she w...

Re: Romantic relationships

The fact that you had ulterior motives with a fellow AA member does not mean that most(western) people can't have purely platonic fellowships with the opposite sex. I am a man who counts many women among my friends and the thought of sex never enters into the equation. But I digress, you desired a ...

Re: The First One!

you will be telling me next that to tell a new comer to do 90 meetings in 90 days is dangerous its interesting to wonder why you would try to think having the power of the fellowship is in anyway a danger ? Lack of the Fellowship was a very big part of my slip. Not attending meetings, my HP never o...

Re: Is it required to be a Sponsor

I agree with what Bcarolan says, except the part of it not being fair to sponsor someone if you weren’t sponsored yourself. I am not particularly interested in sponsoring anyone, and never have, but I will stand up for my right to do so. I also advise newcomers that getting a sponsor should make th...

Re: question on holiday time.

why do you need to feel you have to offer anyone an explanation as to why your not drinking ? if you must tell them anything then tell them it makes you break wind very loudly =biggrin seriously in this day and age no one notices who is drinking what and drinking water or soft drinks is now the norm...

Re: race and culure

Interesting and productive conversation. Seems to me that cultural issues cannot be blanket-excluded as outside issues -- if they affect or drive the AA membership, results, or program. For example, AA shows membership is very predominantly white, at 89%. Blacks comprise only 4% and Hispanics, 3%. ...

Re: The First One!

its one of the best examples i can think of to describe the madness of me to others if i were to pick up a drink, as anyone can understand a jay walker must have a mental disorder to get his kick from that The Jaywalker parable is to show that we have similar traits. He runs in front of the on comi...

Re: The First One!

Re: Felt like a moron after my share today

Many people at AA are simply unpredictable. They say in AA, some are sicker than others. Its a journey each one takes. Some awaken quick, some slowly, some never. Some of them drink just to socialize. how very true i have felt in the rooms at times i wonder why the person who might be sharing came ...

Re: The First One!

i ment to post this here and ended up posting it in an other thread But what about the real alcoholic? He may start off as a moderate drinker; he may or may not become a continuous hard drinker; but at some stage of his drinking career he begins to lose all control of his liquor consumption, once he...
