Re: I'm back

In the past I've been reminded not to do that sort of thing. (pulling an old thread) because people were thought to be gone.
Good to have someone keeping us on our toes :D

Re: I'm back

Hi all
Reports of my recent slippage have been greatly exagerrated
As we say in NZ "No worries"; I am still sober.
Of course, being a selfish alcoholic it was great to see this thread about me had been revived!

Hi SCIR :D
That sounds like a great topic! I agree with Ann; complacency is possibly a better way to phrase it.

Re: Newbie to AA: Marriage Counseling????

And I can see that things don't all revolve around me, and that people do things for their own reasons - not because they get up in the morning thinking "what shall I do today to annoy Steven?". This made me smile. Hi Lori I'm Kerie, alcoholic. I don't have any advice about marriage counseling, I j...

Re: The Trouble with Tribbles

I get it. You smile at the revelation that we are nuts because you are glad to be home again?
You got it.

Thanks Ann, I have never watched Star Trek..... I have heard of Klingon's but Tribbles are new to me - they look cute

Re: Change the Big Book?

I admit that when I first read the Big Book, I found I couldn't identify with any of the stories and I found most of of the first 164 incomprehensible. Now, when I listen to readings from other books - "As Bill sees it" or "Daily reflections" I find them quite hard to understand but I really "get" t...

Re: Obsessions other than alcohol!

I've got this gland that makes me a right greedy git!
I wouldn't have put it quite so bluntly - but, me too!
I've always been a gulper and a gobbler. Even now when I drink non-alcoholic drinks I am the first finished. Maybe we could form a new group - "Greedy gits anonymous" :D

Re: Am I an alcoholic?

Hi Lyndsay Kerie here; alcoholic. Will try to make an effort this week. Something that Yoda said in Star Wars: "There is no try, there is only do or do not". I found that if I didn't change something about my behavior, my mind would convince me that I wasn't really an alcoholic..... so I'd would sta...

Ann, how I wish I could write something that could take away some of your pain. It is ok to cry and to feel your feelings, in fact as you say it must be done for your own sanity. As hard as it is.

Re: Obsessions other than alcohol!

I ate two large blocks of chocolate a few days ago when I was upset and tired. I was a bit worried that it was addictive behaviour; then I thought - if I need to eat the same again tomorrow or eat more than that, then I know I've got a problem. So I haven't had any chocolate since then and have hard...

Re: My Understanding of Alcoholics Anonymous

Hi Lyndsay
Welcome :D
Well done on 6 days; I'm sure you can do 7.
I found when I first got sober, checking in here really helped me get through without picking up a drink.
