Sharing for beginners


After 6 months sobriety I've been asked to give my first main share - 15 minutes on what it was like before, what happened, and what its like now - this Friday.

I've tried the usual techniques of pretending it isn't true, and panicking, but neither seem to help. Any advice?

Great idea. It would be nice also to have a 'things you wanted to know but were afraid to ask' section - that would be useful for newcomers, too. Places like The Priory Hospital here in Chelmsford give a lot of advice and encouragement on the recovery and fellowship angle of AA, but they don't equip...

The mind boggles - just a minor point, but the Just for Today card on my desk *doesn't* have the serenity prayer on the back - that's on the back of the 12&12 card standing next to it. Inconsequential, but odd. Much like alcoholics, not all 'Just for Today' cards seem to be the same... ./GregP from ...
