Re: Justin Alcoholic

Starburst & jolly ranchers while watching VR PORN. I hate coffee. For those desperate times &cravings. I sound like a Expletive but damn it works bro! I never drank coffee until my 40s. Now that I have been sober, my ice coffee consumption has been about 8 ice diluted cups daily  At least it...

Re: I don't know where to begin

So here I am 32 years old I run a very profitable business and I drink like a fish. I have 4 kids and a wife that depend on me and most nights I drink through at least a six pack and 5 shots before I feel right to pass out. This has become my nightly routine. I have been late to work and shown up s...

Re: Xanax

I don't understand why taking a half of a Xanax would be any different than inhaling nicotine into one's lungs as they are both drugs that can cause addiction. I give credit to Lila for attempting to quit smoking as I have been told that it is as difficult or harder to quick smoking cigarettes as it...

Re: God/Higher Power

My name is Dave and I am an alcoholic. I am new to this group although I am not new to recovery. I decided to give online recovery a try to supplement my once a week face to face group. So here is my question "For those of you who have been sober for a while, in looking back over your sobriety, how...

Re: God/Higher Power

The entire AA program of recovery is based on a belief in a Higher Power/God. I would appreciate any input in the thread I started here: https://www.e-aa.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25896 That thread got locked at page 5 - but would love to see the discussion continue in Part II and here! Thanks for ...

Re: Mental Obsession

When I think of the mental obsession part of this disease, I think of the mental obsession that alcohol would help resolve the issues I obsess about in my mind. Maybe, just maybe, this time will be different..... NOT I can relate to thinking that the further down that an alcoholic is beaten down, th...

Re: 24 hour Sobriety plan vs Permanent Sobriety

Just back from my Sunday meeting hosted by the "Day At A Time" group. I have been going to this Sunday meeting for almost 3 years. Banners with the "Day At A Time" slogan are prevalent at meetings as well. From my perspective, the "day at a time" way of thinking is an integrated part of the AA Fello...

Re: 24 hour sodriety plan vs Permanent Sobriety

my plan is to die sober. i can only do that one day at a time. i cant stay sober tomorrow or yesterday- only today. While I like to use this "one day at a time" thinking to help stop me from worrying about the future, the entire "day at a time" is really illogical as it would make just as much sens...

Re: New to AA, but not Recovery

Your car can be replaced. Be thankful that no one else got hurt. I don't know where you live, but public transportation was my main mode of getting anywhere for the 8 months my license was suspended. I did a lot of walking as well. If you can't get to any F2F meetings, there are also some great Yout...

Re: Struggling

Hi all. I’ve lurked on this forum for a while. I relapsed and drank again recently and I’ve got a day and a half sober. My mind keeps twisting on me. Telling me to drink even though I know it won’t be fun or any different than what it has been. I can make it a couple days and then I can’t fight my ...

Re: Do all alcoholics have to experience withdrawal symptons?

Am I an alcoholic or not since I didn't experience withdrawals? May I wonder aloud why you ask? I would imagine that many if not most of us have asked the same question regarding "Am I an alcoholic?" at one point in our lives. The answer must ultimately be determined by oneself. For me, alcohol bro...

Re: Addicts in AA meetings?

I agree that alcohol should be the primary substance of concern in AA, but aren't alcoholics addicted to alcohol and thus considered addicts? The main distinction is the drug, alcohol, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, oxycontin, nictotine, etc... As long as someone identifies with themselves as an alcohol...
