Re: What's the point. I can't keep doing this.

I can't keep battling the ins and outs. This is too defeating. I can't get through a normal day without crippling anxiety that tells me I have to have a drink. I just don't think god put me on this earth for something special. Welcome home to the e-AA Discussion Boards. Welcome as part of your new ...

Re: I am celebrating 5yrs sobriety!

Today is my five year sobriety date. I am on a business trip working in a hotel and I almost forgot! But it hit me when I looked at the date and I am overcome with gratitude. When I went into treatment 5 years ago, I could barely dress myself due to my alcohol and prescription drug abuse combined w...

Re: The First One!

Thanks for your post Avaneesh912, You make a great point with the Car salesman Jim in that "Suddenly the thought crossed my mind that if I were to put an ounce of whiskey in milk, it couldn't hurt me on a full stomach. I ordered a whiskey and poured it into the milk. I vaguely sensed I was not being...

Re: The First One!

Brock thanks again for posting this topic. I've read some great replies here. It was meeting night at my house this evening. We're into "More About Alcoholism" Chapter 3 again and it reminded me of your topic here, "The First One". Each of us reads a page or so, then the next guy reads a page, then ...

Re: Call me Alice

Thanks all.... trust the process I guess. Positrac - spot on!. I absolutely have a MUCH better time on the days I eat well, and get a workout in. I try my best to not let anything disrupt my yoga/basketball/gym - not only do those activities keep me from drinking, they also put me in a much better ...

Re: The First One!

. Thanks Layne. I couldn't have said it any better. Every time I have been to an AA meeting, the twelve steps are read near the beginning of the meeting. So basically a person at their very first meeting gets introduced to the concept of needing a higher power. It gets reiterated at every meeting an...

Re: Addiction and recovery took my fiancee from me.

Eric I know this is breaking your heart buddy. In your writing I can feel your pain to the point my eyes are about to water up remembering the times I went through similar relationships ending like yours. The worst part of it was when I would see her driving around or in a store or someplace. That p...

Re: Friends dropping off the map

I'm newly sober and noticing that friends that were always around before are now dropping off the atlas now that I'm in AA - especially the ones who said they loved and supported me and when I confided in them that I was now in AA, they have no cares in the world and really don't talk to me anymore...

Re: I hate myself

I need help. I am a fully functional alcoholic. I can have a meeting with you tomorrow morning at 10AM and come off as OK, but I'll probably be 3-4 beers in by then. What is wrong with me? I have a bud light in front of me right now as I type this. It's probably my 15th one of day, maybe more. Been...

Re: OUR FRIEND JOHN.

Thank you folks for your care and support. I really appreciate all this. I got home yesterday. I can breath much better. My sternum and ribs are in some pain and that's to be expected. But hey, what a small price to pay. I'd like to set here and type but I have some catching up to do setting on the ...
