Re: Hello, I guess...

Hi Byrd, Like you, I am having a hard time trying to stop drinking again. It's just hard for me to wrap my head around life without alcohol. I am 62 and have been a heavy drinker all my life except for one year of total sobriety thanks to the AA program, then two years alcohol free, but using pain k...

Re: Finding the willpower and strength

Hi Flower : ) I know where you are coming from! I have the same problem. I have always been a heavy drinker. I never considered myself an alcoholic until (roughly 14? years ago). A friend of mine went into rehab and I thought how can this person be an alcoholic and I not be? We basically did the sam...

Re: Finding the willpower and strength

Hi Blue Moon, I remember you also. It is good to see that some do find the willpower and strength to become alcohol free! e-AA was my pathway to at least a few years of sobriety. I have thought about speaking to my Doctor about my drinking, but to be honest, I hate to have it on my health record. Pr...

I'm still around, and still battling alcohol, or worse, not battling it. But there is always hope. Thanks for reading my posts. Bill

Finding the willpower and strength

Hi All, It's been years since I've posted here. So much has happened in my life since then. I've had a little success in staying sober. One year, another time 9 months clean, but resorting to pills only for the remainder of 2 years. Long story short, my life partner of 27 years became very ill (hep ...

Re: hello, im new here.

Welcome Robert : )

e-AA has been a great asset to me over the years. Just knowing there is somewhere, someone who may be able to relate to things that are going on in our lives. Congrats on the 44 days!

I just realized that sounded kind of funny, "welcome to e-aa Eden". Guess I should have said Eden, welcome to e-AA.

Re: Ashamed and worried... And brand new.

Welcome to e-AA Eden :) This is a great place to start when you have questions, are looking for solutions, etc. about alcoholism. This was the first place I ever got up the nerve to actually admit to others, and myself that yes, indeed, I am an alcoholic. Stick around, ask questions, read posts. Thi...

Two years

While I do have some flaws in my program, I have been alcohol free for two years as of August 24th. That is pretty amazing and AA is a big part of how I got this far. Thanks to all of you who read this. :D

Re: Alcoholics and Addicts

In the meetings I have attended in the past, many people are alcoholic/addicts. Many identify themselves as such. Some talk about their addictions a bit and some do not. For me, being one of those who knows both sides, just knowing others there are battling the same sort of thing helps me. I never m...
