Re: Sober guy at the party

I did my best to bring something to the party and enjoyed myself thoroughly. AA is amazing...It took this hopeless drunk and turned him into the sober guy at the party...so happy that I became willing to take the actions...and continue to do so today...my life is awesome!!! Even though I do try to ...

Re: I'm Scared to Attend AA for the first time... should I b

I was so scared to attend my first meeting... So scared I thought I was just going to faint. I realised that meetings are the place where I feel most understood, most accepted and most comfortable to talk about my feelings. No one judges, they have all been there. And after all fear is just an emoti...

Re: Here we go again.

May I ask, what you are going to do differently this time around? I am seeking professional help, adding to the meetings and the daily work in the program. And I am trying to live by the program, instead of just reading the literature and talking the talk. I think my biggest problem is, that I alwa...

Re: Here we go again.

Thanks for the messages...
I am going one day at a time.
Not making any plans anymore...
My doctor advised me to seek help in one of the day time rehab facilities. That way I can work, but still have someone professional by my side, while I work the steps and learn.

Re: Here we go again.

One of my closest friends past away on Sunday.
I wasn't able to say goodbye because I was drunk and asleep while they rushed him to the hospital.
That must never ever happen again.

Have you contacted the ICYPAA rep for meetings in Germany?
I haven't, but I had another AA friend call. They are talking about doing a YPAA meeting here. I don't really have any info, as I haven't really been in touch lately.

Here we go again.

Hi my name is Feeya and I am an alcoholic.
As of today I am three days sober.
I have been here before and I thought I had hit bottom and could not fall any deeper. I learned that I could.
And I did.
Alcohol won this battle but that doesn't mean I failed.

Re: A little insight

Luckily I had very positive experiences in the rooms, being a young person.
I am almost always the youngest (by far) but I always feel welcomed and taken seriously. IMO that is sooo important. Just because I am young does not mean I am less than...

A little insight

In 1985, one of the better known examples of A.A. 's ability to turn a young person's life around was the story of June G., who came to Alcoholics Anonymous in Venice, California, in 1972 at the age of 13. The product of delinquent, violent, alcoholic parents June was pathologically suicidal as a ch...

Re: The struggles of just learning how to be sober

Hi Caruh, Your struggle sounds very familiar.. the part of being scared of new people but at the same time wanting new people in your life is something I identified with for the longest time. My biggest struggle used to be, and I am only speaking for myself here, that I would hide behind the multipl...
