100 days and struggling

Everything was going good, then not so good. Feel like I am back in withdraw all over again. Stalled out on step 4 and my sponsor got a job and now we never have time to meet up. I am full of self pity anger and disappointment. Nothing brings me pleasure. I know it is stupid but the obsession is bac...

The obsession and depression

When I was at work I felt good. Soon as I come home for days off the headaches start the depression, the desire to drink. I have always used booze as my reward. Work is an addiction for me as well.
Anyway, come home and just want to turn around and go back to work.

Re: Do you have to lose everything for this to work?

I know the feeling. I can imagine not drinking today or this week but soon as I go much farther it freaks me out. I just live in the day when it comes to not drinking. I have a hard time getting to meetings as well with the job I have. This site has been great to just put it out there how I am feeli...

Re: Work stress for a newly sober worker

Merry Christmas
Thanks for the replies and encouragement
Being in camp 8 days out of every 14 days is going to be a real test of my will.
I do have a few numbers I can call. Doing so.....
Being able to just share here has been a help.
So thanks again for being here.

Work stress for a newly sober worker

I have other addictions besides alcohol. Work is the one addiction that can over ride my desire to drink. I have always used booze as my reward for success or to relieve the stress of a rough day. In sobriety I find my self less forgiving of others faults. It has always been there but I would say I ...

Re: Hi. My name is Merl and I'm an alcoholic

Hi Robert, I tried to explain it to my spouse this way: if I went on a trip that you didn't want to on and had no interest in how can I explain the trip to you in such a way that would make you feel with all of your senses that you had been there. There is not only the act of drinking, but it is th...

Re: Wake up feeling hung over

I have some anxiety pills. Been saving those for when I am at work. I stay in a work camp when on duty. (Not a dry camp). With no chance of going to a meeting I am going to restrict the pills for when having a rough time in camp. The "awakening" of my mind might end up being the hardest part of sobr...

Re: Trying sober again...Wife thinks it should be easy

Home life has been good. Wife supportive and encouraging. I have been going to meetings. I don't share with her much about my day to day struggles. I also don't share the details of the specifics of A.A. Wife has no belief in a higher power. I am still getting in touch with mine. I am open and willi...

Wake up feeling hung over

Day 12 to 14 waking up feeling hung over and craving a drink. I know this can happen. Just needed to say it. It also feels like all I do is dream all night. Not sleeping all that well, but getting sleep. Funny thing is when I was drinking I almost never got hung over. I am an alcoholic and I want to...
