The man who died in Bill Wilson's home

I was at big book study last night and we were reading bills story. Someone brought up the guy who committed suicide in bills home. When I was new in sobriety I spent so many hours learning this stuff and his story escapes me. I have a vague idea of the story. Anyone know this story?

Re: Question? Non Sponsored, Sponsoring

Good stuff! I always say the instructions for sponsorship are in the 12th step hanging on the walls...."having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps..." I have a sponsee who is six months sober sponsoring a new guy. He asked me if he might be to new in the program to do that. I said.....

Re: Problems with one day at a time

I like the story of Bill and Bob and the man on the bed. Bill Dobson. He was afraid to leave the hospital he said he would get drunk on the way home and Bob said can you stay sober just for today? Just so he could get home and then they came and got him into work. Helpful for the shaking last Gasper...

Problems with one day at a time

Hear it all the time. All we got is one day at a time. So glad my sponsor never taught me that. I hit the steps right away. Day 1. That was five years ago. He said there can be a confusion about what we can recover from. I can remove, eliminate, conquer alcohol from my life for good and forever by d...

Re: Question regarding people allowed to share in meetings?

Confine their discussion to their problem with alcohol. That's pretty open ended? Just in the situation I presented above....don't alanons have problems with alcohol ?

Re: Question regarding people allowed to share in meetings?

Yes we read the blue card. So I appreciate all the insight. Al-anon speaks about steps and recovery from alcoholism. So the blue card is the literature? There is nothing else?

Re: Question regarding people allowed to share in meetings?

Yeah he said it was voted upon at a conference or something. I've been around a bit. I know the traditions and the program and I'm very active. I haven't heard of this either.

Question regarding people allowed to share in meetings?

I was chairing a meeting and I had a old timer approach me after. It was an open discussion meeting. I usually refrain from to much participation in these types of meetings but I had spare time so why not. A few Al-anon members were there. I asked one of them to share. The old timer came up after an...

Re: 4th Step... Guilt... Self-Forgiveness?

Good question Dave A. Really good. Here's what I have found based on the truth of my experience doing the steps and going to meetings and working with others. Self-forgiveness...not our job. If I had the ability to forgive myself I wouldn't need God. Insert the 12th step ---> In forgiving others, Go...

Re: How Do you carry Gods will?

absolutley Aveneesha. I agree. I did the same 12 steps out of the book that you read but I had different experiences. I can't stay sober off other people's experiences for very long I needed to have my own. Therefore, my spiritual experiences are personal but I did it by reading the same book and st...

Re: How Do you carry Gods will?

I think first people need to understand what God's will is. Of course, they launched an old chip of a book that they believed was moral as well as spiritual. When I joined AA God's will was very simple...find someone who's had a spiritual experience, get them to help me through the 12 steps and unde...

Re: i might have permanently damaged myself i'm scared

Shaky McShakes!! I don't miss that. I know a lot of people who were shaking like a little leaf after a hard night of taking the bottle to Pound-town. I remember the days I used to smoke a boatload of pot to counter the horror effects of a 2-3 day session. I'm not saying take up smoking pot but I chi...
