Re: Dealing with people who bring up the past repeatedly

I had no past and my new good habits reaped me many rewards on the relationship front. Amends have been made, I have moved on, these are incidents that happened 15 years ago. My homegroup tell me that these people are jealous, and are bringing up the past because they are threatened by my present. ...

Re: Resentments toward another recovering AA member

I don't have anything worthwhile to contribute but just want to thank HappyMomma and those who have replied with such wonderful guidance. This is something I've been dealing with also and its helped me a great deal. It helps to keep coming back too and being reminded of stuff. Thanks again. :)

Hello and welcome. You're never too young nor old to get hijacked by alcohol nor to recover from its grip.

Have a super day and keep coming back. :-)

You might be an alcoholic if:

You rush home Friday for a couple of drinks so you're not late to Happy Hour.

I did and I am one. :-)

Re: what should i avoid? Kefir or the internet?

Hello Mary. Good to meet you. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. I think its probably one of those "I read it on the internet" things.... its all written by people and some have their personal issues. I wasn't familiar with kefir so did a quick search just reading the couple of sentences given i...

Re: Should the Big Book be revised?

Why? Is there some evidence its not working any more? If not... if it works, don't fix it. A classic is a classic for a reason... human nature doesn't change. We don't change the language use by famous classic authors to accomodate "modern" times... people get the meaning no matter what the time per...

Re: New here. looking for some help

Some groups give newcomers a list of people to call when they need to talk. If the chair person doesn't offer you one of those ask if they have one. In making calls from that list you may find someone you click with or lives on a similar schedule to yours (ie: is retired, etc) and would like ask abo...

Re: Diego just had his last drink

Hi, I'm Diego and I'm a 29 year old M who's just put down his last drink. This isn't a spur of the moment thing, but I'm glad I found this forum. I'm a bit of an introvert and I look forward to reading/ sharing with the rest of the group. A quick paragraph background of what got me here: I met my f...

Re: Am I An Alcoholic?

Hi there, I am new here and am not sure if I should be here but I'm concerned about my drinking and was hoping to talk it out.... I'm 39 and have been drinking pretty much every weekend since I was 18. I drink to excess, getting drunk most times that I have a drink. I don't crave drink when I'm not...

AA or NA

I know someone who was addicted to pot and prescription drugs but they also drank and did that more often. They went to NA and said it wasn't for them so they tried AA. I was curious but didn't ask why. But, they said that initially they had trouble finding a sponsor in AA and said they had to lie b...

Hi catcar... good to meet you. I'm pretty new here and there was a recent discussion about this among members and, gathering from that, I'm not sure how to advise you. Have you read that section in the Big Book? That way suits many of us but it wouldn't have me for instance... at the time anyway. My...

Re: new comer

Welcome. Good to meet you and to hear of your decision and how lucky is that? having meetings close by. Its hard for me to meet new people offline and meetings are a pretty far distance driving. I'm glad I was younger when I got sober as I just about lived at meetings... don't know how you're doing ...
