Re: question on holiday time.

During my first sober holidays there were some festivities I skipped due to the alcohol and people that would be there. It was one of the best decisions I made at the time.

Hey everybody!!!

I just wanted to drop by and say thank you to all of ya'll who were here when I started in sobriety over 3 years ago. Just like the members at my homegroup, ya'll and e-AA were all instrumental in helping me get and stay sober. If you are new and wondering if sobriety is possible IT IS!! The promise...

Re: First Impressions

Same here reborn. There were days in early sobriety when seeing someone get a chip was the only hope I had that day. 30 days was impressive to me and one year seemed like a lifetime.

Awesome Paige! That's sure to be inspirational for those of us who came in without the traditional concept of a higher power. Thank you for all you do.

Re: Is it really One Day at a Time?

If I were brand new and looking for a solution the comment in this thread that would scare me the most is that we have to work with other alcoholics intensively on a daily basis. When I came in I got that impression from the people that I saw attending every meeting in town. There is no way I have t...

Re: New to the forum

Hi Mada, It takes a while but a lot of things can be repaired by working the 12 steps of AA. Some things can't. One thing for sure is that nothing will get better without sobriety. I've found that the steps helped me mend some relationships. For the ones that couldn't be mended I am in a better plac...

Re: Time Frame for Completion

I started when I was 3 months sober and finished in about 3 or 4 months. I lost the obsession after 5,6, and 7 ( I did those all in one day ) so I ended up dragging my feet on 8 and 9. My theory now is the quicker the better. Someone said the other day that at 4 years they are still on step 7 becaus...

Re: I'm a Noob

Welcome Steve,

You are the same age I was when I quit. This program works. The guy that took me to my first meeting told me to read the Big Book and get a sponsor to take me through the steps. That was great advice. Hang in there.

Re: Always disappointing my sponsor

It specifically says in the AA sponsorship pamphlet that a sponsor "• Never takes the newcomer’s inventory except
when asked.". Straight copy and paste. It has been linked in this thread twice.

Re: Always disappointing my sponsor

Here is a really good pamphlet from AA which covers sponsorship. If you haven't read it I would suggest reading the whole thing and apply it to your situation. http://www.aa.org/assets/en_US/p-15_Q&AonSpon.pdf As far as the therapist goes, if that is an option for someone I think they would be crazy...

Re: Always disappointing my sponsor

I have learned that what I "feel" may not necessarily be true. Why don't you just have a good honest sit down with her about your feelings? Honestly you are so close to being able to live in steps 10, 11, and 12 it's not even funny. I would be hard pressed to make a change now and would focus on get...
